Sockhammer
OK, so I'm running windows 7 64 bit OS. INTEL i5 2.53ghz processorATI Radeon mobility 5850 videocrad4 gigs of RAM, dx11 installed --and I have the Steam version of FNV: The game was running beautifully with until I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. So, play by play- I've been running the game for a few weeks and I recently got wise and started modding it. The full list of the mods I was using are as follows, with X's next to ones that I tried out and then disabled; FOMMNVSECommunity Bugfix CompilationNew Vegas Bounties (X)A World of Pain (X)Arenovalis Weapon retex packWeapon Mods Expanded (WMX)WMX- Arenovalix Textures compatibiltyNew Vegas Bounties (X)Beware of Girl Body replacer (with a bunch of type 3 armors)Mikoto's Beauty Pack (with a new type 3 body replacer that overwrote the BOG one)Bullseve crosshair replacerDetailed Normals (texture replacer)Redius NV (X)Fellout (with the esp to make Friend of the Night work)MTUIGrenade HotkeyUnified HUD Project I ran the game on Ultra sometimes and High normally without much lag until yesterday when a very specific problem regarding fast fire pistols and rifles (10mm, assault carbine, etc) weren't firing at peak capacity in combat. they were lagging to the point where they would hardly be responding to my clicks (everything else seemed fine; movement, etc.). They weren't totally unusable mind you, but they acted like they were jamming up like a shitty rusted gun irl. Anyway, I decided to pull my saved games out into a file on my desktop and uninstall the game (from the control panel add/remove) and then I went to the folder location at Program Files (x86) , Steam , Steamapps , common , fallout new vegas. and I deleted that folder too, then emptied the recycle bin later on ><. So, I re-downloaded from Steam, deleted FOMM. reinstalled it and (before running the game) began to reinstall the mods I had. I installed all the ones above WITHOUT (X),s EXCEPT for the following (with reasons). Beware of Girl Body replacer- (didn't want)NVSE- (I tried to, but when I ran the the installer It would immediately pop up an error that said "Couldn't find FalloutNV.exe.")Community Bugfix Compilation- (Tried to reactivate the package with FOMM but I got an error right away that said- "A problem occured during reactivation: Could not find a part of the path 'c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\meshes\26_fixes\architecture\quarryjunction\crusher-crusher-512x512.nif'. The mod was not reactivated" ) So I blithely tried to run the game anyway with all the other mods activated and it crashed with the generic "windows has detected a problem.." message while it was on the part of the loadscreen that shows the bit of desert scene with the cactus plants after the little "access the steam community in-game.." message shows up in the bottom right corner. Tried launching it from the FOMM first, from the steam menu second, and from the .exe file as well- Same thing each way. If it makes a difference, launching from FOMM before this whole debacle with the reinstall would normally go to the launch screen, then I would hit play- now it skips that screen and just tries to open the game. THEN I tried deactivating all the mods and running it from each of the three places with the same problem. SO, if anybody actually reads through my wall of text and can help me out I would love them for ever and ever and bake them cookies or something =) Thanks
TimRosaire
Yes, just started having the same problem. I'm running the Steam version FNV on an AMD machine with XP Pro and minimum mods. Won't list them here because up until yesterday, FNV was working fine (the last mod was installed weeks ago). Then, in the middle of the game, it crashed and I got Window's "Blue Screen of Death" and my computer rebooted. Since then, FNV all the way through the introduction screen, but when I select "Continue" I get the usual starting screens (with tips about the game), then I'm dropped back to the desktop. Obviously one of the files got corrupted. I'm very far into the game and don't want to lose anything. I've saved my Saved files and my Data files. But I'm still concerned that I will have to go back to the beginning if I do a reinstall. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
