NukaSixty1
I recently fixed Obliv after some bad mods - uninstalled, file directory deleted, reinstalled. I tested it out completely fresh, with nothing installed but Obliv itself and the DLCs that came with it (GOTY edition). It played flawlessly, but it seems like, at random intervals, with or without mods, the game 'minimizes' itself and goes to the desktop. When I reopen Oblivion, everything is frozen. I can move the camera, but nothing else moves, and menus don't appear. It's happened three times today, and it's getting annoying. The only other application I have up is Skype. Could it be that I'm using OBSE to launch Oblivion rather than the regular launcher? Edited January 25, 2011 by NukaSixty1
Lopoko09
Try using OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) and be sure that the Oblivion.esm and other masters are before the mods, then launch it.Hope it works bro.

I do have OBMM, and I checked, oblivion.esm is right up there at the top. I don't have that many mods installed, just some of Slof's stuff (Giger Armor, Better Bodies, Manly Stride, etc.), Robert's Male Replacer v5, Halcyon Island, and an Alyx Vance outfit.Again, this happens with or without any mods. I tried using the patch from elderscrolls.com, that didn't work either. Edited January 25, 2011 by NukaSixty1
Lopoko09
Oh... Then try Right-clicking oblivion.exe, click Properties, go to compatibility tab and make sure that "Unable Visual Themes" and "Unable Desktop Composition" are checked.
WastelandAssassin
well, i know how that's like in a way, it also happens to memy game doesn't minimizes itself randomly, but when i do it myself (like when i try to look at info on the internet), when i open it up again, it has the same problem the thing is, it happened many times, and i couldn't really find a way to un-freeze the gamesometimes if i open the console and close it, it will start working, but i don't think it solved it every time as for why it is minimizing itself like this, i really have no idea what may be causing thisis there something that might be trying to pop up on your screen, like new messages or such??because i think that my game minimized once or twice, when my Firefox gave me the notification that all the files have been downloaded successfullyso maybe there is such a problem with your computer i would try turning off Skype, just in casesee if it makes a difference

It might help something, I'll try it out. If I don't reply for a few hours or so, it worked. well, i know how that's like in a way, it also happens to memy game doesn't minimizes itself randomly, but when i do it myself (like when i try to look at info on the internet), when i open it up again, it has the same problem the thing is, it happened many times, and i couldn't really find a way to un-freeze the gamesometimes if i open the console and close it, it will start working, but i don't think it solved it every time as for why it is minimizing itself like this, i really have no idea what may be causing thisis there something that might be trying to pop up on your screen, like new messages or such??because i think that my game minimized once or twice, when my Firefox gave me the notification that all the files have been downloaded successfullyso maybe there is such a problem with your computer i would try turning off Skype, just in casesee if it makes a difference No, actually, I didn't see any pop-ups or messages or anything after it minimized. Smooth613
Some background service is taking priority and that's what's causing Oblivion to minimize. You'll need to find out which service/app is doing this and close/disable it. I suggest you Clean Boot and play the game to see if the problem continues. If not, you know it's definitely a background process.
