Issues with modding under Steam?

Are there any general differences that I should know about about modding DA when it runs under Steam?

I ask because I followed the instructions to install one mod as a test; everything appeared to work, but no changes appear to have made it.

(This may have nothing to do with Steam, I just want to eliminate that possibility before I spend more time on it.)

Welcome, Naevius!

The only thing about a Steam install that impacts mods is that the folder structure is slightly different from the default retail disc install. So you have to figure out where things should be placed/pointed on YOUR system to work when the mod author's instructions aren't written explictly to account for that difference.

Good luck and Happy Modded Gaming!

Thanks for the reply. I saw that note, but since DAUpdater appeared to work correctly, I assumed it could/did take that into account.

I'll wrestle with it some more tonight...I didn't spend a lot of time on it.

DAUpdater can handle ".dazip" files (and I assume it does so under Steam with no problem.) It can't handle most mods that are out there, since they aren't packaed as ".dazips".

Success! No idea what failed the first time, but it was some form of pathing error. Now that I have a slightly better idea of whats going on, I'll try some more ambitious stuff.

Glad to hear you got it working!

There's just enough difference in the exact file locations to make things tricky, (at least with a Steam install. Don't know if the other channels have unique folder structures or not.)
