Ranged weapon realism mod

Won't it be interesting if you would come up on a world where a ranged weapon and bullets are scarce ? (em like a real Wasteland? or like an extended beginning period of Fallout 2 - Aroyo and trials, etc ). Not to mention hi-tech stuff. (i mean, c'mon I can buy laser pistol in very first shop i enter in 4th minute of the game, where's the fun here?)

 

- That you would fight hard to get some rusty pistol and couple of bullets just for a few shots

- and then every bullet put under serious consideration before put in use (like shoot it or better hit it with club to save ammo or just run?).

- Of course a bullet have to be deadly in most cases (like in a M.A.D. mod).

- Energy weapons and Power Armour would stay only for quite advanced period of the game (either make them very expensive or otherwise). But only after long period of rock and spear fighting. In this level a player would best improve its

melee and unarmed skills , sneak and agility as in this would it'd be most of the time needed. Sneak to avoid a gun owner or fight in melee if you can safely close in for close range combat.

 

In a world like this a gang would just became a gang because one man has the gun, and that man would be obviously the boss ?

 

New spawn NPC would have to have a little chance to have range weapon/ in cointainers it would be almost impossible and shopkeepers would have them very expensive ( if any). Ammo would be greatly reduced and expensive (but lethal).

Simple, crude melee weapons would be most common, thrown spears and such.

 

I know there are some mods like Adventurer New Vegas (if you happen to played in this mod - please leave your feedback!), but I am not sure whether its set for spawned NPC also or just trashbins and containers. And anyway I found a lot of ammo and guns with even this mod, so there's anything like it yet!.

It would have to have a special ratio appearance for range weapon and ammo, as said.

 

Ps. Such Mod would best fit to Expensive Wasteland and mentioned M.A.D.

Glad you like it :). I've edited the text, to outline important things.

 

Besides the storyline which I can easily put here about the nukes and wasteland, and really f**ing harsh place to live, the way I see this mod in technical terms goes like this:

 

0. Bullet is a bullet. It's lethal in most cases. Not to mention hi-tech stuff like lasers and plasma (this one already works fine in a M.A.D. mod)

1. Humanity had tousands of years to make civilizations. Now it's barely standing and its totally depravated. It can use only what it founds (besides RARE highly organised groups which CAN produce).

But still they do not have factories and mass production. What they produce is SCARCE. So there are :

- SCARCE pre-war weapons in terrible condition and

- even MORE SCARCE PRODUCED Hi-Tech weapons.

Both are HARD to FIND and extremly valuable. And it concerns ammo also. Remember MAD MAX ? - He had like 3 bullets , and when lost one almost risk his life to get it back! One Bullet! )

3. Because of scarce resources, damaged junk from pre-war era - REPAIR is very important skill this way. You can find a gun with 0% condition. But still a gun!

4. NPC cannot have guns like they do right now. Now that's a tough part, but a Goodspring Settler with a gun is out of question (or Sunny Smiles giving you (?giving?) a rifle for Geckos ). It must be reduced for all characters.

5. Other things are scarce too! They do not lie like they do right now - in center of a town full of people? There might be valuable things but few and in very hard to get, desolated and radiated places. Then its reasonable.

6. What is fairly common is: HERBS, survival, home-made weapons, spears, clubs, gecko steak and healing powder.

7. some drug may be common too - like JET in Fallout 2 when some smart guy learned how to do it . They produced it - had the resources - then its fairly cheap and that ok. Others drugs like mentats or buffouts should be as rare and expensive as guns and hi-tech stuff. I suggest one group of highly-addictive s*** is cheap and common. Other most advanced like mentants are very scarce and expensive.

 

So in general greatly reduce items in the world (inlcuding NPC inventory, NPC shop items - remember Waterworld and shop there or Book of Eli ?), especcially pre-war stuff, and even more hi-tech stuff (laser,plasma weapons, power armors) and of course increase its value (prices) dramatically. increase home-made things in the world , melee weapons like spears , clubs, healing powder. Increase all gun damage to lethal values (like in great M.A.D mod.).

Rebalance the melee and unarmed damage and weapons. Perhaps new melee perks abiliteies, unarmed special perks ?

Perhaps someone is able to give an advice or answer some questions below to help - I will do the mod myself.

Is there a global variable deciding how many items will a NPC have , or a Vendor ?

Or is there a global variable deciding how probably NPC will have gun and/or ammo ?

Or can I set starting inventory of Player Character ?

Can I adjust also items which are not in containers - like lying on the floor / table ?

What does Editor ID names "TestQAWeapons" do (Form ID 0008F7B9) in Containers section or other TestQ... ? - it looks like a test to availbility weapons in game ...

Im pretty sure you can a mod to decrease the supplies. but thats all i know is out right now. keep searching

 

Thanks - I see the numbers in various sections of the esm database. But it looks like its divided into very small section in big numbers. I'd need weeks of tweaking and then months of checking to see if it works out well.

So I'm looking for some global values - or maybe there can be applied a script to every container or NPC inventory - that do a check of 80% probability whether weapon is removed or not. Hmm... Any other help highly appreciated!

So I've made a request for a mod to ... myself :). I already have more than half job done, and even now it works great :D.

 

It takes long becasue I'm doing it the hard way (only way I know) without any globals, but when you think about it - its more interesting without the globals - because there is nothing absolute in the game and

you still can be surprised when some NPC throw at you dozens of bullets from a submachine gun ;) - although do not expect this to happen often ;>.

Hi KVM, yeah Real Wasteland is my my aim.

 

I'm tuning up my mod - it'll be put here on nexus, sooner or later.

I still do not know - whether I'll do a full-wasteland-transformation-with-overall-changes or just an scarce weapon addition for M.A.D and others realism mods alike.

 

Why would you remove all energy weapons ? After all you have "Energy weapons" skill , which would be obsolete. I'd rather reduced their presence in the world further.
