Collector needing some mod advice!

Hi everyone!

First off, I'm sorry if these kinds of questions have been answered before, I'm new to the forums. I recently installed Oblivion again, I have never completed it despite me being really excited for it when it was released. I think the main problem for me was the lack of immersion and sense of accomplishment compared to Morrowind (which is one of my favorite games of all time). But now with Skyrim coming, I really want to give Oblivion the chance it deserves. I've been playing for 20 hours now and I really enjoy it.

Now to my problems. To summarize, I need advice about if I should go with this set of mods, or if I should add or delete any. Also, if the mods are loading in the right order. More importantly, I need a house that suits my needs! The way I play these games is as a collector; especially when it comes to armor, books, high-end weapons (like glass and ebony), artifacts and all sorts of other special objects. In Morrowind, I had a house with a wooden mannequin for every type of armor to see the full sets when I had collected all the pieces. I also had lots of pedestals and display counters to put artifacts and weapons on. I'm looking for a similar house mod for Oblivion, which should optimally have these features:

- Lots and lots of Mannequins, one for each type of armor in Oblivion + Shivering Isles + Knights of the Nine, plus lots of extras for other mods (I'm mainly thinking about Francesco's mods). These should optimally be in one or two rooms. This is the most important feature.

- Lots of display counters of some sort. I'm not too fond of the ones with a glass "door" that you can open, but I guess most of them are of this sort.

- The house should not be too large. I'd much rather have a small, cozy house than a grand castle. There should be as few areas as possible.

- Function over prettiness.

- Some kind of alchemy sorter to quickly put away all ingredients I carry would be nice, but not mandatory.

- Some kind of library would be nice. Even nicer would be one that automatically stores my books.

- To clarify: The main function of the house is to show off my collections of armor, weapons and artifacts. Other features are secondary.

Whew, that was quite a list  I really hope someone can point me in the direction of a house like this!

As for what mods I'm playing, this is my current list. I'm currently 20 hours in the game, but will probably start over when I find a nice house mod, since I'm not really satisfied with my character. I haven't altered any load order yet - I just installed the Oblivion Mod Manager. Feels like I should have check the load order before playing for 20 hours, but oh well

Is this load order OK? As I mentioned I haven't really thought about the load order until now. I've had some small problems in my game that might be caused by wrong load order, namely that shields do not work (they aren't showing or adding to my armor class) and merchants never lose any money when they buy stuff from me.

Is there any mod you feel that I should delete or add? I want close to a 'genuine' Oblivion feeling, apart from fixing the lack of sense of progression that I mentioned.

Whew, this was a long post! I'd really appreciate some help with these issues. Thanks in advance

Best regards,

Jesper

Well, I believe I can help you out.

All In One Basement This is a nice little mod that adds a basement that connects to all the buyable houses in Vanilla Oblivion. It has a Trophy Room, an Alchemy Lab which can sort all of your ingredients, and a modest bedchamber.

Better Oblivion Sorting Software Or BOSS, will sort your load order to minimize any conflicts caused by overlapping mods. It's a great tool.

Reznod Mannequins These can hold all of your various armors and are even posable! It requires Robert's Male and Female Bodies, which are below.

Robert's Male Body v5 This is by far the most popular male body replacer for Oblivion.

Robert's Female Body This great gem of a female body replacer is only surpassed by HGEC.

Slofs Better Bodies RMF This is a high rez texture replacer for Robert's Male and Female bodies.

Millstone Farm This is a cozy little farm southwest of Cheydenhall. It has various tasks you can do to keep the farm up and running.

Morrowind Daedric Crescent Blade Who says collecting artifacts isn't fun? Heh. This adds the Daedric Crescent Blade from Morrowind to Oblivion. HINT: Look for the amulet.

Ancient Towers This is a large player home with many rooms and activities to do.

Dremora Companion This great mod allows you to have a Dremora by the name of Amozabael as your companion. Later on you can even have your own Daedric Realm in the Deadlands of Mehrunes Dagon.

Well, those are all I can think of right now . . . And you don't have to download any of these . . . They are just suggestions. ;) Hope you have fun.

If you are a serious collector, then you also need this:

Oblivion Collectible Cards - it adds cards from the characters and monster and stuff on the game and the special ones give bonuses. Also, it comes with shelves to place the cards on.

Thanks a lot darkedge, All In One Basement is almost perfect for my needs! I suspect it will be a little crowded once I get lots of mannequins but I definitely can and will use that mod  Thanks again.

Heh. Well, make sure that you use Robert's Male and Female bodies. Reznods Mannequins requires it. Slof's Better Bodies is a little gem that everyone should have. :D But it's up to you if you want it or not.

This sounds really interesting. Is it compatible with OOO? I ended up using OOO instead of Francescos.

darkedge, I've downloaded them. :)

Aha! A collector.

Shouldn't you be busy hunting around for rare collectibles in dusty auctions rather than hunting for prized stuff in a virtual game world? Just kidding! :teehee:

Well, I am an amateur collector too. So, let me up the ante and see if you can raise my bid. I think I can tempt you with Skin-toned Mannequins, Muffins Refurnished Display Rooms and Natural History Museum.

Though if you are a collector like that rich guy in the Jurassic Park movies, you can take a look at Imperial Zoo. But if Glarthir or Adoring Fan are annoying you, you may want to toss them into your own Prison and even profit from it.

If you don't have such a bent of mind, there was another mod called Your Personal Dungeon (unavailable right now), where you can keep few interesting NPCs that you find, make them fight each other and even summon them into battle to aid you. After few battles they earn their freedom and are released from your clutches forever!
