How to add Face Presets

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Doesn anyone know how I can add (and not replace) my own face presets to Dragon Age? I've already found how to replace them (hf_cps_p01 ... p08...), but if I ever release my presets to the community, I think it would be unfair to delete/replace the other's work ;)

Thank you in advance,

Frederic

Heyas Freddydak-

WOW! I can't believe that nobody has answered this one for you yet!

This is actually a very simple thing.

You can name your .mop file pretty much anything that you want, and then add that name to the chargenmorphcfg.xml file, for it to show up in the Character Creator (CC).

The only rule that you really have to follow is the prefix for the race/gender, followed by an underscore. For example, if you were making a human male preset, your filename for the mop file would have to be something like hm_freddyface.mop [edit] I accidentally typed .moR, instead of .moP there, corrected now. [/edit]

the races are as follows-

hm_ human male

hf_ human female

em_ elf male

ef_ elf female

dm_ dwarf male

df_ dwarf female

So, for instance if I was making a female dwarf preset, and I was going to call it "dwface01". I would name the file df_dwface01.mop and then save the file. I would then go into the chargenmorphcfg.xml file, open it with notepad, and find the listing for the dwarf heads, female, and add

      <resource name="df_dwface01.mop" />

(with the spacing before the <resourcename in the file).

Its pretty much easy as that :D

Hope this helps! And have fun creating your preset .mop files :D

Oooops. I also forgot to mention that if you use capital letters in the name of the .mop file that you also have to use capital letters in the .chargenmorphcfg file.

And I dont think that you can combine upper and lower case. All of them that I have seen are either ALL uppercase, or ALL lowercase letters.

I also havent tried renaming EXISTING presets that OVER-WRITE other presets. I know that IF that was going to work, you would have to leave the name of the existing preset there in the chargen file, and update it with the NEW name of the preset that you renamed. Havent tried that tho, but I think that it'd work.

Oh, and I ALWAYS recommend BACKING UP your chargenmorph file BEFORE doing any edits to it, just in case. You won't be happy, if something gets botched up with it, and you dont have a backup copy! ;)

DarkeWolf, you're my hero for the weekend ;) Let me quote my dear Leliana: "Thank you sooooo much!" ;)

Thank you for the answer, it works perfect :) I always wondered how it worked in Bidelle's Cosmetics (as it also adds presets), so I KNEW there'd be a way ;)

Have a nice weekend,

Frederic

Hahaha very cool! I'm really glad to hear that you got the results that you were looking for :)

No problem at all, I'm just sorry that you didn't get an answer sooner. :( I guess it just means that I'm the only one that was on the site for a bit that knew about the mop presets and the chargen combo. :(

BUT anyways, I am glad to hear that you've got them working out right!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, have fun with the new faces, and make sure to give Leli a kiss! ;)

Yuria welcome to the nexus forums! :)

Well, with yours, you're working with something just a little bit different. So once you've got the files installed, what you need to do is update the chargenmorphcfg.xml file with the entries for the new faces.

The chargen compiler should be able to do that for you, as long as the author provided the chargenmorph file.

If they didn't do that, you will need to manually add each entry, like I'd referred to above.

Hope that this helps you out. And kudos given for using the search function! :)

I just started using the toolset, so this really helped. As well as multitudes of tutorials so I wouldn't corrupt anything. Thank you!
