lilleku
okay, my problem is that i have made a simple overpowered spell:the spell has shock damage to target and fatigue damage in a 35 feet(isnt that what its measured in?) radius. my problem is that in game the spell launches as a fatigue damage spell, meaning its speed is slow, animation and sound is wrong. it is supposed to launch as a shock damage spell traveling 2x faster and with totally different sounds and animations. what decides which effect in the spell is going to be displayed in-game? how do i alter it? the spell worked fine, i adjusted it a little bit and know its all to pieces. lilleku
I figured it out, and since im not sure whether im the idiot not to have understood the obvious, or nobody actually knew, ill post my conclusion anyway.. When you make a spell in the CS the magic effect with highest demands for casting is the one taking precedence over the otherones in-game. this means that (like i had) a spell with 999999 targeted lightning damage hitting the target only, and one damage fatigue with 99999 (one less digit) hitting in a 26 feet radius around the target for 15 secs. the fatigue damage then took precedence over the lightning in-game. My answer to change this was to add a new lightning damage spell with 1 damage, hitting in 36 feet radius, for 20 secs. i wonder did anyone know or is this something no one has thought about before (so im a genius to figure it out :D ?) PS: you should really try to add a fatigue damage like the one i use above, it works kinda like paralyze and looks like the lightning is so powerfull that the blast makes your foes fly :P
Vagrant0
It's been known for awhile now that the spell component with the higher needs ends up determining the school and graphic used. You can use this a number of ways to your advantage to be able to use spell effects from a school you aren't that good in, provided you have one that you are. For instance, A damage spell linked with a high duration light spell would make the spell of the illusion school, and could be used to cast a higher damage spell than what your normal descruction skill allows with the downside of added spell cost.
