Help tracking down CTD

Recommended Posts

hello.

as the title says, i need help tracking down the cause of my CTD.... i have afew mods installed and used boss and fnvedit and i have no conflicts.

i played FNV for 3 days with no crashes, did old world blues DLC with no crashes. spent 2 days trying to play the Lonesome road DLC.... been gettings crashes, hangs, graphical glitches ad everything. but i powered through and i think im on the home stretch.... i have just lost ED-E the companion and off to save..... however after that dialogue scene of losing ED-E i CTD everytime within 10 seconds. i can anything but as soon as the 10 secs are up... CTD.

i don't know how to track down the offending conflict/mod.

can anyone help me?

edit: loaded back into game.... and ran straight away out of the bunker. which i now know is called...... Ulyesses Temple. i left it idle outside and nothing, no crashes.... minute i re-enter the temple and CTD.

nvm... managed to sort it.

seems i was running out of ram. didnt think that possible seeming as i have 16gb. but some research saw that game is limited to 2 or 3gb.

played in window with task manager and saw that when in the game it reaches 3.87gb memory.

found a mod called 4gb patch. installed and now no more CTD..... task manager reports game running at 2.88gb.

1. Open fallout.ini file in My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV with Notepad.
2. Look for bUseThreadedAI=0
3. Change to bUseThreadedAI=1
4. Add another line below bUseThreadedAI=1 , iNumHWThreads=2

5. Save and close this file.

This fixed a lot of my crashes. Worth doing even if you aren't crashing a lot as it can remove crashing completely.
