Faelrin Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) My brother just bought me a used 14inch asus that has an intel core i5-320m cpu @2.60GHZ, nvidia geforce gtx 660m 2gb, 8 gigs of ram, and windows 8.1 64bit. And after getting windows 8.1 installed (it was just windows 8 ) and Classic Shell, I moved onto Skyrim and the mods (since he already had steam installed on it). I got done with installing my setup of mods, and texture mods (some of them at either their default 2k sizes like in the case of book of silence, but most are 1k things like rustic clutter collection and gamwich's other mods), and afterwards, installing and running loot, and running tes5edit to clean the masters, and SKSE for SkyUI and a few others. I am not using the hd texture pack dlc. When I first launch the game I am greeted to ultra high settings, everything maxed out. I turn off the anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering, and throw on fxaa, and object detail fade, change distant object detail to high, radial blur to low, shadow detail and decal quantity to medium. I left everything else as is. Anyways I get in game after getting that all done, and since I'm using alternate start-live another life, after creating the test character in the abandoned prison (just to see how things run on this thing before seriously playing on it), and immediately it feels a bit too smooth, and the fire seems to be animating a lot faster, possibly too fast. I'm pretty sure v-sync is enabled because I haven't touched the ini at all (aside from the options in the launcher). My load order by the way is incredibly small at the moment. My older laptop was getting about 15-20 fps on average. This newer laptop gets about 50-60 fps. So I guess there is no problem other then the fact its just getting more fps then what I've been used to for years now, because its way better then my older laptop. Edited June 16, 2015 by Faelrin
saurusmaximus Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I think this is the first time I've seen a post where someone's frame-rates went up! Enjoy your new rig.
