New meshes

I was wondering if someone would be willing to make some architectural mesh. I want buildings that look like ones from skyrim. So instead of having this http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120114001221/elderscrolls/images/a/aa/Applewatch.jpg you have this http://static-5.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/18124-1-1338718786.jpg

If you can help me I would appreciate it. If you can't than could you tell me anyways? Thank You

The first thing is that there is no point in doing one.

You need at least 2 to make a village.

The next is matching interiors.

While I could normally do them in a few days I really can not commit at this stage - I'll pm you when I am ready.

Of course I'd need more than just one. I would really like it if I had all of the buildings replaced with more skyrim type ones. And I may need other architectural items, such as fences, doors, city walls, rock walls, etc.. For right now just the buildings would do. What I really want is to make bruma look like whiterun and have the bruma castle look like Dragonsreach, but this requires new models which I can't make on my computer.

Well, even though it doesn't take a lot of space I still won't be able to get it because my computer is really slow as it is, but a few mods won't hurt.

I did a mesh today based on a farmhouse as used in Rorikstead.
Whereas the Skyrim one has 2350 polygons mine turned out to be 750.
It uses existing Oblivion game textures with about a 4:1 reduction in overall pixel count.
The windows emit light at night as well as reflect it during the day.

The whole thing weighs in at 120kb on disk or 40kb packaged - less than my User Icon on this post. Your PC should run it without any problems

Here are some screen shots.

I like it. When you said "Whereas the Skyrim one has 2350 polygons mine turned out to be 750." does that mean that it will just be smaller? How many models are you willing to do? I need all the Bruma ones redone and Cloud Ruler temples redone as well. If your not willing and/or you're too busy than that's fine. Thanks again.

The Polygons https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygon_mesh are the overall mesh faces required to make up the model. The size/scale is whatever I export from Blender.
Lower polygon counts mean less for the video card to process but also less detail.
Most of the saving is on the roof where you've really got to look hard to notice.

Something to consider is the amount of detail that comes from textures.
The side of a wall can look like laid stones despite that mesh face being as flat as glass.

Oblivion simply doesn't have a lot of the textures required to make Bruma look like Whiterun so quite a number would have to be added to your mod.
These are rough estimates but I'm guessing that done properly the mod will package at over 100mb and take around 6 months or so on my part. I want to spend time on finishing my own mod, Nagasteim (2.5 years so far)

If your computer can run Oblivion let alone Bruma with similar detail to Whiterun then it can run Blender 2.49 (required for the nif import/export) to do this sort of work.
As I suggested, learning Noob to Pro for 2.49 would be a much better place to start.

It took me about 2-3 months to learn Blender and do this model that is based on the Hornet from GTA San Andreas. That was on a Dell from 2006 with around a GeForce 6800 or so.

I realise you are going to have your time cut out doing the actual mod but in my experience object replacement and clutter are the short end of the wedge. I'd need someone to at least share some of the modelling work such as bowls, cupboards, whatever - the subtle things that can make all the difference to atmosphere. The things I hoped to get help with in this post but nobody has answered.
If you make them instead of giving others ideas and/or concept you are much more likely to get what you want for your mod.

In the end I have to ask what is the time frame you want to put on this project?

Well, the mod you're currently working on looks pretty cool and wish you good luck. I can see what I can do to help with decoration and containers etc... but I probably wouldn't be able to do real architectural models until most of them are already done. If I get blender I'll look at the link you gave me and I'll try to do a building and some misc Items. You would have to tell me exactly how this is gonna work would I email you my models or keep them for myself?

Also are you going to post these models on nexus if so (if I get blender) I would have to somehow give all the models that I make to you because I'm not a premium member and I don't plan on becoming one. As for the time frame just hopefully before the end of the year. It may not happen that quickly because I'm gonna be busy writing my book, and writing songs on the piano for another modder, then there's fathers day, and ton of other family plans around the summer months. And would I have to get anything for texturing or is that in blender? Thanks again for the help

The time frame you are putting on this is quite reasonable.

As time permits I'll start on doing a replacement for one of the Bruma houses.

I was thinking of BrumaHouseMiddle01 as there are a lot of them and I think would the changes would be most noticeable.

When I finish anything ready for you to review I'll put it on my google drive and message you the link.

If somebody else reads this and wants to share or take over the modeling you can take it from there.

As far as Blender goes, everything you need is open source and free.

As I have said, I highly recommend doing the noob to pro. Considering your agenda it would be a case of doing an hour here and there when your not in the mood for whatever else. You may be surprised how quickly you'll start to make realistic objects.

Here is the link for Blender 2.49b - select blender-2.49b-windows.exe

That's so you can see you are getting it from blender.org where the source code is available to prove it has no malware.

If you run into problems just message me.

If you find you hate working with blender not to worry, nothing venture nothing gained.
