artorius91
Something occured to me the other day. As found out somewhat late in the game, Wynne is inhabited by one of the "noble" spirits of The Fade... in fact, it's what's keeping her alive. Now when you are trapped in The Fade and must rescue your companions, you discover that certain party members are not fooled by the illusions found therein, such as Sten and Morrigan. (Although honestly, I was somewhat disappointed that Morrigan wasn't fooled; it would have been nice to see her not so high-and-mighty for a change  ) Anyway, I thought it odd that Wynne was fooled; after all, the spirit that bonded with her was FROM The Fade. One would think it would recognize where it came from. Any thoughts on this?
brokenergy
Not really, Wynne can lose track of her location too. It's just her experience during the circle allowed the fade spirit to take over her while unsuccessful with Sten, Morrigan and the Warden. Sten's friends were already dead, Flemeth spirit didn't act out like Flemeth would and Duncan was already killed. Wynne was too focused to save the circle that cause her to fall in the trap and didn't noticed the signs.
ElliotKane
I think it's got a lot to do with how great a grip the characters have on their fears and desires, honestly. Wynne is terrified of failing others and the consequences of that, which makes her susceptible. Sten fully accepts things as they are, so he knows his friends are dead. He's too ruthless with himself to be fooled. Morrigan may secretly desire a nicer Flemeth, but she's also a natural cynic who knows full well that'll never happen. Morrigan also has no faith in anything that cannot stand up to exacting proof.
brokenergy
Hence the Sloth Demon wants to make people happy... before eating their souls.
artorius91
Good points... especially about Sten. I thought it was hilarious that the only thing he liked about Ferelden was cookies.

Yeah that was really funny :D The telling point for me with Sten, though, is when you take him into The Gauntlet during the Sacred Ashes quest. His reply to the Guardian's question tells you everything you need to know about him. Suffice to say that He takes a VERY hard line with himself.
