BaseballNut50
I've noticed people have made mods for inanimate objects breaking down when damaged by using the Destruction Data capabilities in GECK. Armor has the same Add Destruction Data tab that these modders utilized, but after creating my own degraded meshes and adding them in GECK, I can't get it to work. Anyone know if this feature is possible with armor or animated objects? I'd love to see a physical representation of armor degrading as its DT and durability wear down from use. Destructible armor is an awesome feature available in Oblivion via scripting and the BUframework mod, but I figured the New Vegas GECK's Add Destruction Data tab removes the need for scripting... Can anyone offer advice?
ecksile
I tried the same thing with weapon degradation in FO3. AFAIK only statics can have dynamic effects, the player cant have anything dynamic added/equipped on to them. So it wont show in real time the armors degradation, only upon equip and reequip. That's why your destruction sets don't work in real time. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I suppose it could be because I edited the armor to weaken it a bit in GECK and then loaded into a saved game with the character already equipping it... though I don't think that would tamper with the results, I could be wrong. If I get the desire to be another stimpack-popping punching bag for a deathclaw (not as easy as it sounds), I may go to an older save and re-buy the armor. I get the feeling I'll just be wasting time, though. I believe the un-equip/re-equip method is how Oblivion's destruction mod worked, though, since the armor there would disappear for a split second before re-appearing in a more damaged state (I don't think it was wholly because the game was changing nif files since the PC could briefly be seen in their undressed state). Either way, I'm sure a resolution could be found by scripting the change from one mesh to the next, but I'm not a scripter and wouldn't even know where to begin... and I'm unsure if Oblivion scrips carry over to New Vegas.
