TarotDragoon
trying to upload a Cass mod to change her face using the wonderful BlackBlossom's American albino mod. since I'm new to the modding scene I have more or less No Idea what I'm doing. essentially I edited Cass' face in the NV-GECK using the American Albino race as a template then loaded the resulting .esp into FOMM with the following load order: FalloutNV.esmFOOK-New Vegas.ESMMikotoBeauty.esmNew Vegas redesigned.esmdD –Enhanced Blood Main NV.espLeatherBackpack-eng.espReadius_NV.espSideburns.espSideburnsBeardShort.espRHINO45-70MX_NV.espAfricanAmericanAAlbino.espMikotoBeauty.espNew Cass.esp <- My espFellout.espFOOK-New Vegas.espELECTRO-CITY-Imaginator.espNevada Skies.esp however, whenever I load the game up it works fine until I try and load my save at which point I get a really irritating CTD. checked on NV-Edit and it obviously conflicts quite heavily with New Vegas Redesigned and a few certain fields like hair and eyes and race which says; <Error: Could not be resolved> tried fiddling around with the load order but to no effect. does anybody have any clue what could be causing the crashing and any way to make it not conflict with New Vegas Redesigned? rickerhk
If New Vegas redesigned changes Cass's face, and then you change her face, that's not a conflict, that's an override. And just because you are seeing red - that is not necessarily a bad thing. FNVEdit shows red when more than one mod changes the same thing. It's up to you to choose which one wins by loading it last. Well, if this is all for your own use, this is what I would do: If you want to change Cass's race to the African American Albino, just do it in the AfricanAmericanAAlbino.esp and change her face there too. If you loaded up AfricanAmericanAAlbino.esp in the Geck, then saved your own plugin with Cass using the AAA race, the AfricanAmericanAAlbino.esp will be removed as a master from your plugin when the Geck saves it, causing the <unresolved> errors. In order to prevent this, AfricanAmericanAAlbino.esp needs to be converted to a master by flipping the master bit and renamed to esm - but this will cause another save game problem if the player is using AAA race - CTD. So that's why I just suggest editing AfricanAmericanAAlbino.esp. When the game trys to load an actor and it's race is <unresolved> it will CTD every time. If you want to use Cass's face from any other mod, just drag the Facegen fields over to AfricanAmericanAAlbino.esp that you changed her race in, using FNVEdit. Then, if that was all the other mod did - you don't need it anymore.
KaelynZ
Everyone does things differently... I keep my custom version of Cass in her own esp (MyCass.esp), which I edit using FNVedit rather than Geck. After downloading a bunch of various Cass mods (including NVTRedesigned), I just brought up FNVEdit on all of them (without activating any in my game), did a 'Copy as Override' of the Cass I liked best into a new file (MyCass.esp), then proceeded to copy hair, face, race, inventory, etc out of various mods into the Cass override defined in my new plugin. Then I saved and exited, ran FNVMasterUpdate on everything, and voila! I now have my own Cass, whose appearance I can easily change using either FNVEdit or Geck. It is generally a bad idea to alter downloaded plugins (such as the one for the African Albino Race), because what do you do when a new version comes out? Creating your own mod that overrides downloaded mods is much more modular and upward compatible. Just be sure that ALL of the required fields in your plugin have valid values, and be sure to use FNVMasterUpdate to turn all those esps into esms (including your own), or else you're likely to get head/body skintone mismatches, and possibly CTDs.
