Thoughts On Modding Fallout 4 For Consoles (Responses Appreciated)

Hey everyone!

I'm brand new to the forums, but I've been happily partaking in the wonderful mods Nexus hosts since I built my first PC and transitioned from console a couple years ago. I'm also fresh off an internship at Game Informer (search site:gameinformer.com Jon Gregory) if you want to find some of my work there, and I'm looking into beginning to freelance and cover things on my own.

 

I tend to be technically inclined, so Fallout 4's promise of console mods seemed like an interesting place to start. I was hoping some of you might be able to better speak towards the attitude regarding that feature in a community that is dominated by the PC space. It's unfortunately not a topic I see a lot of sites covering, and I'd really love to pitch it if I could come up with an interesting angle or enough responses to paint a picture of the differing views on the topic.

 

I'd be interested in anything you find interesting about the feature. What are some worries you have about it? (The biggest one I have currently would be how much work it takes to port those mods, and who will be asked to be doing that work.) If it requires extra work would people still be interested in supporting it? Would people support it even if PC is your only gaming platform? How do you think the policies of Microsoft, and eventually Sony, will impact how/what can be modded into the game on console? (There is a section of the modding community that produces adult content that Microsoft and Sony might actively object to, for example.)

 

Again, any input you have would be appreciated, as even if you aren't an active modder it helps act as a barometer for the community's reaction to that feature. If you've worked on a mod and are responding, I'd love to know more about your role in creating that mod and what that mod is (link would be great, doesn't even need to be for Fallout). If you're open to making more formal comments via something other than a message board let me know. If you know anyone else or any other community that might have insight on this I'd love to talk to them.
