start with any race at any start point?

Hey there PrinceSergiu;

I took a look at "Adopted", and it sounded like it's at least half of what you asked, (although you can't "start anywhere in the game", only at the begining. :dry: )

What problem are you having? There are several "out-of-game" and CC-phase steps that you need to do to get it working, but none appeared very difficult. :unsure:

So which parts of the instructions are giving you problems? What you're trying to do involves making the game behave in ways it was never intended to do, so it takes a little more effort to make the kinds of changes required than for a simple facemorph mod.

Since "Adopted" is packaged as a DAzip, you can tell if you've completed the first step just by looking at your "Installed Content" screen in-game. But it won't actually work for you unless you've manually made the edits (including removing the "=" in front of the Origin you DO want to play) as listed under "Configuration", below.

[Copied from the "Adopted" Description Tab.]

===================================================================

This mod lets you play any origin with any race/class combination. Likely to cause occasional odd reactions from NPCs.

-- Install ---

Install .dazip with daupdater.exe.

-- Configuration ---

Add the following lines to your DragonAge.ini found in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings:

[xatmos]

=ForceOrigin=DalishElf

=ForceOrigin=CityElf

=ForceOrigin=ElfMage

=ForceOrigin=HumanNoble

=ForceOrigin=HumanMage

=ForceOrigin=DwarfNoble

=ForceOrigin=DwarfCommoner

=ForceClass=Rogue

=ForceClass=Warrior

=ForceClass=Wizard

Then "uncomment" the lines for your desired origin and class (remove the equal sign at the start).

i.e. To play a Dwarf Mage and start in the Circle:

[xatmos]

=ForceOrigin=DalishElf

=ForceOrigin=CityElf

=ForceOrigin=ElfMage

=ForceOrigin=HumanNoble

ForceOrigin=HumanMage

=ForceOrigin=DwarfNoble

=ForceOrigin=DwarfCommoner

=ForceClass=Rogue

=ForceClass=Warrior

ForceClass=Wizard

Then create (or import) your character (a dwarf for this example) as you normally would, choose any class, background, skills, etc.

You will be respecced automatically once you get in the game if you force a class other than the one you choose during chargen (as long as you don't click Quickstart).

===================================================================

So after making the above edits to the .ini, (removing the "=" before "CityElf", of course) you:

Start a new game;

Select "[Male]/[Female] - Elf - City - [Rogue]/[Warrior]";

Build face/attributes/talents/skills as usual.

After the opening slideshow, your City Elf should be standing in the castle in Highever in front of your (adopted) father, Teryn Cousland! :laugh:

I would try it again, carefully following the steps above, and see what happens! :thumbsup:

Ahhh, so one removes the "=" from in front of the Origin corresponding to "the desired setting" for wshatever character one has created, right? Nice to know, since I want to create a "temporary" character long enough to get a specifc elven protrait uploaded to the BioWare servers, but don't particualrly want to play the Elven origins again!

So kudos to you for getting me to learn about this mod! :thumbsup:
