renegadespoon
i made 4 civilians start off in a building and gave them packages to make them walk out the door into my world space and wander about it until a certain time when they walk back into the same building to go to sleep, and they worked fine first time round. Now i've made 5 guards with pretty much the same packages; they start off in a different building, they leave fine, but when it comes to them going to sleep only some of them make it back to the building, some of them get stuck on terrain or just disappear altogether. Also, if i start from the main world and go into my world space the guards are all standing in a group and only move around that small space, even if they're supposed to be asleep. The packages are essentially the same as the civilians, but they're being complete retards. sometimes they don't even follow the navmesh, but the civilians do, and when they leave the navmesh they get stuck, and if i wait using T, and press T straight after so it doesn't even wait, the guard disappears and i can't find him again. can someone please help me, otherwise i'm giving up because its too much hassel. I've been working on my own world space for 2 weeks and i've got hardly anywhere because its just one problem after another.
davidlallen
It is painful, but there is some kind of serious bug in handling navmeshes in "esp" files. Many people find this weird behavior goes away, when you switch to an "esm" file. Please see my learning experience in this thread. You will need to use fnvedit to flip the "master" bit each time you test.
renegadespoon
My master file has come up as an ESM already, its my mod file thats come up as ESP, but when i try to open it in FNVEdit, it comes up with this message: Background loader: Fatal: <exception form ID [00160C43] in file FalloutNV.esm referes to master file FalloutNV.esm which has not been assigned a global load order> so what does that mean? The file won't appear in the FormID box. also i don't understand what you mean by flip to ESM
davidlallen
Are any of your navmeshes in an esp file? Then I recommend using fnvedit to flip the master bit, as described in the thread I referenced.

davidlallen
Please get fnvedit and the fnvedit documentation. Under file header, right click and select edit; this gives a list of checkbuttons to change in the file header. Click the ESM button. Then save. davidlallen
Please get the fnvedit documentation, a 160 page PDF file. On page 77 "Converting a Plugin to a Master", it has a long detailed description of how to do this, with many screenshots.
