That's definitely the kind of thing I'm hoping for. I think I got too spoiled playing skyrim with the multiple-weapons ini edit. :( On the bright side, the fact that Bethesda was so close to getting it to work in Skyrim may mean that it'll be a vanilla feature in the future.

So it would be kind of like the turrets you break off and carry with you in Halo? It's certainly an interesting idea and I like it, but I'm just guessing you probably couldn't do it with the vanilla assets. Too much pushback. But maybe some custom weapons in a specific adventure/mod. Give em a fair amount more kick, add a script that on under the equip block slows your speed & on the unequip block drops the weapon.

Well, I never played Halo (yeah, shame on me, I know) but I guess the general idea somewhat similar. I guess revamping vanilla weapons wiould be really hard I know, but still I like the idea. I was thinking about Vault 22, where there is a conviniently placed Flamethrower, so it could be awesome to just pick it up, burn all the m^$*&*ckers, drop it and go away. But it's just thoughts, and they kinda aren't related to this mod.

And yeah, I'm not that much of a use, but I know a few basics about Geck and Blender, so if you need some help, I will be happy to be at service.

Well, I never played Halo (yeah, shame on me, I know) but I guess the general idea somewhat similar.

Essentially you could rip a turrent off it's mounting (only Spartans could, not normal humans) and carry it along. The turrets were pretty effective But you had a movement penalty adn you couldn't switch weapons without dropping the turret. They also had limited ammo. All of these limitations made the turrets a strategic weapon that could work really well if used wisely, but couldn't practically be carried very far (ie your slower, make a great target for snipers and it slows the pace of the game and therefore the fun significantly).

I guess revamping vanilla weapons wiould be really hard I know, but still I like the idea.

Not so much the difficulty, I mean there would be blowback from the players. They expect certain dynamics from heavy weapons. The way these would be set up makes it very unwieldy to take even one heavy weapon through the whole mod and/or home to your cache (unless you don't mind moving at half or less speed through a whole mod, and being stuck with one weapon) much less two or more of them. It would be an anchor around your neck for snipers, area affect weapons, certain creatures etc.

But new/unique weapons could use that dynamic. Picture it this way, a unique weapon used by a super mutant, or power armor user etc (ie something with increased strength), could be significantly heavier than your standard heavy weapon. It's extra damage would be balanced by it's movement penalty and the difficulty in changing weapons. It would have uses in certain parts of the mod (maybe even be essential), but a penalty if used throughout the whole mod. This way you get some fun shoot em up action, but it doesn't unbalance the whole mod.

I was thinking about Vault 22, where there is a conviniently placed Flamethrower, so it could be awesome to just pick it up, burn all the m^$*&*ckers, drop it and go away. But it's just thoughts, and they kinda aren't related to this mod.

Sure, maybe laying next to a dead supermutant of uncommon ingenuity, that suffered an unfortanate fate. Maybe even a note or diary explaining why he was there and what he was trying to acomplish.

And yeah, I'm not that much of a use, but I know a few basics about Geck and Blender, so if you need some help, I will be happy to be at service.

It doesn't seem complicated in principal, but thanks I'll keep that in mind.

I meant if there is a lot of work and you need some spare hands or something, 'cause I don't think I know more than you about both geck and blender :)

could modify melee hotkey to do the trick. It's a pain in the butt having to add all the weapons that are compatible manually in a few places, but very much fun once it works. pm me for details.

No worries, hotkeys are easy/straight forward. I like the body slot system because of it's elegance/simplicity. I like how it automatically bumps weapons that were last used without any player interaction being required and I believe 4 or 5 additional weapons displayed are plenty (too many more and things get cluttered pretty fast).
