betterthanyou102
Hey everyone. So I've never modded anything before but all of the mod managers on this site made it look like it was really easy to do. The only mod I want to get working is the Oblivion XP system but I feel like I have hit every possible problem imaginable. I tried using the Nexus Mod Manager for Oblivion. I had to find a youtube video to figure out how it worked as I couldn't make heads or tails of it myself but eventually found one. Whenever I tried to activate the xp mod though, it would reach 50% exactly and then the mod manager would crash. Even after uninstalling nexus and re-installing it, the same thing would happen every time at exactly 50%. So next I tried downloading the Oblivion Mod Manager, found a youtube video explaining what to do, and followed it to the letter. After following the video, the manager claimed the xp mod was now active with a blue square in the corner indicating so. I went in the game and the xp mod wasn't present. Please help. I've been at it for hours and I can't find a single post or video of anyone having similar issues. I really despise the in-game experience system and only bought the game on steam because I thought I could easily use one of the mod managers to replace it. If I can't figure this problem out, I might return the game. Could someone please explain to me in the simplest way possible how to get the Oblivion XP mod working? forli
As first step, you need to download Oblivion XP Update, which is the latest version. Then, get rid of NMM for Oblivion. It is not compatible with a bunch of Oblivion mods.If a mod has a complex structure, NMM won't be able to install it without a script, but since many many many Oblivion mods were released (and abandoned) before NMM was created, very few have a NMM script. Use OBMM or (better) Mod Organizer or (my advice) Wrye Bash. If you have a problem with a mod, you can start asking for help on the mod official page. Creating a new topic in the forum for this should be the last resort if nobody answer in the mod official page. I guess few will answer on the old Oblivion XP page, but on the Oblivion XP Update page you should still get support. I don't know what's happening in your mod, but after you install a mod with OBMM and ensure it's checked in the OMOD list, you must also ensure the esp is checked in the esp list. shinobi2008
I second Forli's recommendation for using Wrye Bash but OBMM is okay to use too as long as you make a note what mod replaces which files. Regarding the Oblivion XP be sure you are using the updated version like Forli mentioned and make sure you have all the requirements met i.e latest OBSE installed, MenuQue, etc etc. If all else fails you can ask for help at the Nexus page or at the official forums. I'm sure Anda will be able to answer any problems. Edit: If you are going towards OBMM, get the latest TES Mod Manager from Skyrim Nexus because it's the latest version with more or less similar features. If you plan on heavily modify your game, I would definitely recommend Wrye Bash route or you can use both if you prefer. I would not use NMM or Mod Organizer for Oblivion though... stay far away from them. Edited July 19, 2015 by shinobi2008

I tried installing manually and then with OBMM but no luck, the XP bar was there but I wouldn't gain any XP and the vanilla leveling was still happening. As soon as I removed Oblivion from NMM bam up and running no probs. So thank you for this post. For now I'm sticking to OBMM though I might give Wrye Bash a look.
