lynxcali
Looks amazing tatts! I was wondering if you could make the sword from Metal Gear Solid 4 as well? The one raiden uses. Its a really simple sword but at the same time its awesome.

bobkornog
@Bobkornog, Unfortunately I do not have mudbox nor zbrush, I have tried using blenders scuplt a couple times but I did'nt so so well with it. I am just modelling it out by hand and what i'll probably do is just bake an AO then just work off that. I usally work between Gimp, and Texture maker to give me the effects I need. You're doing a great job. The subtle work on the details is awesome and the fact you're doing it by pushing verts around is an even bigger accomplishment. You're doing it a solid way since baking your maps in the app you're working in yields the best results more often than not. So did you save your low poly version to bake your high poly version on to? What maps are you going to include with this? I'm still learning how CS works and what resources they use. I understand the primary ones are diffuse, normal, and specular maps. Do you know if they support like self-illumination and opacity maps? It would be awesome to see the skull have a slight glow to it with a self-illumination map, just a thought! Either way keep at this, its really coming out nicely. IgnorantBeast101
hey tatts, it looks nice so far. Can't wait to see the finished product... And, yeah. It's sad that the guy who requested got banned a short time later. Should've followed the rules... tatts24
Well still working on this sword. Still have more work to do to the texture. I am not the greatest digital painter but am trying. I still need to create the sheathing as well. But it is coming along. The sword will have the usual diffues and normal map. As far as the specular I just set it to a 100 in nifskope. it has an Emmisive map as well, as you will notice from the pic posted the eyes glow red in the dark. http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/tatts24/sword1.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/tatts24/sword.jpg

Its awesome to see this guy in the game. Anyway to bump up the emissive map? I would love to see those eyes really shinning. Did you just use the picture supplied as the base diffuse texture? Then just modified it from there? Keep up the great work tatts! I've been struggling to get a sword design of my own into the game. Whenever I add it it just comes up with a yellow exclamation. I'll get it though!
tatts24
@Bobkornog, I create all my textures from scratch. from the models themselves, As I am working on a model I usually start marking UV seems as I go along. After the UV map is completely plotted out, I render an Ambient Occlusion to the texture to get all the shading in place. I open the baked texture in gimp for the blur effects and from there I just bounce back and forth from texture maker and gimp to do what ever it is I need to finish it. My normal maps are created using gimp. As far as getting the sword in game, It is a little confusing at first but once you get it down it is rather very easy. I would explain my method here but it would be better in a tutorial. http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/tatts24/sword2-1.jpg Edit.... I had just uploaded this sword. It now has a crome shine and temp sheathing. you can find it here. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37124 there is still a bit of work to do but atleast people can have fun with it till it is fully finished.
