NVariety crashes game

OK. I am not real computer savvy, so forgive my ignorance. I have tried three different times to install NVariety and NBaio. NBaio works fine when whole folder simply copied over to the override folder with my choice for human female default made and in place. NBaio works with new games when installed through override file in DAModmanager, but seems to crash game sometimes with previous save games.

I currently had the folder copied over to the override file (the same folder that appears, as near as I can tell, when the override is installed through DAModmanager). Thus, all naked females have the human or elf female defaults I have inserted in there. I try to install NVariety step by step as described in the read me doc. For ease of learning, I try to select all partiable females and make them the same NBaio variant. I write whatever file it writes. I load game -- and it crashes. every time. Not only that, it appears to be corrupted so that if I uninstall the NVariety tool, and try to reload the game, it still crashes. I have to delete the save, and go to a "previous" save (I actually use a second save at the same instance; I created 3 copies with different names just in case).

I really like the concept of having my party folk look different -- particularly with the romancible ones and their scenes. However, I can't even get to the stage where I can use the potion of transformation to change them.

I noted a couple of things that make me think I am missing something, so I ask for more detailed help. The first is the NBaio issue, which was noted above. This conflicts with step two slightly.

Next issue:

4. Start the DA Mod-Manager. Skipped, because of below. In fact, if I open DAOModmanager, I cannot see an option to install the zips; just a list of everything I have installed, with the active ones clicked.

Install the NVariety v4 .dazip. OK. Done. Double clicking on it brings up installation window, and easy install. I don't see how this should be any different than doing it through DAModmanager

Rightclick on the NVariety override to configure. ???Override??? None appears until after the first time I run the program.

Because of the issues with losing my save games, I must admit I haven't been nearly as thorough as some folks I have read in other threads. It gets too frustrating. I don't know computer languages (a little Python is the extent of my experience), so I do not want to try messing with the code, or adding my own custom meshes, or anything. I just want to use the fine work that has already been done.

Thanks for your patience.

Eureka! AHa! I got it working with current savegames! As I thought, it was something simple (if I'm right, and not just lucky). I didn't realize that DAOMM made a mods folder that it uses to keep track of things; I have been simply double clicking on the mods and using the window that pops up to install mods, and moving folders directly to the Bioware Override folder. By moving the damods.zips all into the mod oflder, and lletting the overrides created by NBaio and Nvariety sit in there, it seems to have worked. I have successfully changed the looks of my party members.

One other note -- I had to create an override with all characters, and then give them ALL non-Default information. I understood there was conflict, but thought that meant not to have a PC avatar contain both NBaio and DAO default parts. All one, or the other. However, attempts to leave a party character alone (like Ogrham) and just have him be DAO default caused a crash. I don't know if this is typical or not. At least I got it working.
