Modders Rescources

Hmm Besides all the previous advise I've given you Allen, For learning how to mod Fallout, such as animating moving containers and things of similar nature I'd suggest going back and finding mods that you've played with interesting content and ask the creators about thier methods, usually if someone is willing to make a mod, then answering a question or two won't trouble them.

Of course some mods and thier creators are quite popular so you may not get a response as quickly as you may like.

The reason I suggest this is because they may know shortcuts and can create things easier than starting from scratch, like animations you can substitue etc.

I know danthegeek creator of the "underground hideout" (One of the Best mods In Both fallouts) had hidden safes, moving walls, statue switches, and in the new vegas version, I personally love what he did with the light switch in the armory, it's something you never notice till its there.

And you can always use the Modders Resource Thread (I know I've linked you to it in one of your threads), for inspiration or materials to start with and improve on into something unique and new.

Edit: Also don't forget to glance over threads in the "Mod Troubleshooting" forum, usually someone has asked "How do I animate, create armor, etc." and has recieved the answer in detail since its likely those questions are asked a lot, (Similar to here on mod talk "I'm new what mods I use?" =P)

We're planning to make a vault as the site of the maze. My idea was to have multiple modular hallways and rooms, then have a script shift b/w different teleporters on a timer, accompanied by sound and texture FX to simulate the change. After the maze was "broken" there would be a new amorphous wall blob effect to suggest the nanites' loss of cohesion. but the overall shape remains the same, in effect a perpetual melting effect.

As per the second, yeah, it's big, which is why I'm working on the other one first. If I manage to get a mod out and then advertise the second concept, then the two-man team will likely grow larger, possibly large enough for the airship to get done. Until then, it's just a concept.

In any event, the vault project is delayed until J121 returns, so I'm in limbo for the immediate future. I've been working on an old Medieval 2 mod for the past week to pass the time.

In any event, would you be interested in working with use on the vault mod in the future? I don't have the resources that Josh made, so I can't do anything with the GECK at present, but after he returns in a week or two then we could definitely use a good modeler such as yourself.

I like the walls. Could be very useful. A collapsed section or two, and some matching single bricks would make the set perfect.

Im glad you think so! :)

Yes., the walls will have variation - half walls., door frame sections., im planning on making a staircase too., so people can just build what they want, the new name should be `las vegas lego,' aha.

If you have any More suggestions, please dont hesitate to post :)

Hello again wayne, always a pleasure.

Yes, Ive asked many many authours about advice or methods, I have not however asked the author of the hidden shelter mod.

I dont suppose you would be so kind as to ask him for me? He might reply to someone more.....credible?

Thank you for the compliment Trooper, Im really just someone with a hobby for modeling at the moment, but as time goes on, my work is getting better.

I would have course love to help with the project, as long as you dont set very STRICT deadlines. ( deadlines are fine, but I live a busy life)

Indeed if you enjoy me working on the team, I would not mind making it an officla thing, as I am also currently looking for a team for some of my projects.

I don't like deadlines either. most of the work we need to do is texturing/navmeshing; Josh has been working with sketchup to get new weapons in game, and he's retextured items and props from the vaults to use in the mod, but that's about as far as it goes. As for me, I can't really do anything aside from write and give grandiose mod ideas.

Navmeshing is something we will need at a later date (it is necessary for AI pathfinding, i.e. companions and enemies) but right now, as I understand it, the lab is thr primary concern.

To get an idea of what we're tying to achieve, I'd rather just PM the backstory and such to you as it gives a better understanding of the mod; we're building the levels around the questlines and backstory.

Thats fine.

One rule of working with me is I must release a lot of my work for the community to use, not essential things, like , I dont know, a special item or quest related things, but lets say I build a lab wing, I would give the majority of that to the community, so other modders may benifit, this is nothing to stop the mod or anything, but rather, I feel it aids the community more that way.

Allowing more mods to be produced with custom content.

Hmm I'll message him and let you know, one author I think you really should message with is Bond123, he has done tons of modders resources and new models, so he'd likely have lots of tips since your doing something similar.

Bond is also pretty good about responding rather soon if its a reasonable question.

As someone who is in desperate need of new models, I wholeheartedly agree. Besides, if you made it, you should decide what to do with it.

I'll get the backstory together right away; it's been a while since I looked at it, so I'll want to polish a few things. If it's alright with you, I'll PM it when I'm done, as I'd rather not spoil the story by posting the questline.
