Changing type of armor

Good evening.

 

I've used search, but I can't find that old topic.

 

Some time ago (maybe year ago, I can't remember) I've asked on this board if there's a way how to change armor type, i.e. make heavy armor to become light armor and otherwise. I know nothing about modding in TES, so I asked for some more easy way. And some guy replied that I must drop desired armor on the ground, look at it, open console and type something in there (I can't remember correctly, but it had something to do with "set blablabla 1/0", where 0=light and 1=heavy (or otherwise) or something like that). After that armor will switch it's type. And it worked. Thanks a lot to that guy!

 

Now, time went on, I've got a new PC, old one died, as well as my old login/password, can't remember both email/username I've used back in those days. And what's even worse: I can't find anywhere information regarding switching armor's type in-game.

There are tons of wonderful armors on tesnexus, however, I'd prefer some of them to be light and not heavy and vice versa.

 

Does anyone knows/remembers method of changing armor's type in-game? Can you post it in here please?

you can change an armor from heavy to light in a few seconds using the CS, and it's really really easy

 

i don't know if there is a way to do this in game, and quite frankly, i don't think it's possible

if you would like, i can tell you just what to do in the CS

just write here if you want, and if you do, i'll write instructions, in the easiest to understand manner i can :thumbsup:

Slight problem is that I have a truckload of armors and changing all of them or even trying to remember which one's are heavy and which one's are light will take a very, very long time.

Besides, I'm a bit afraid of accidentally doing something wrong what may cause some armor to work incorrectly or not to work at all.

 

That's why I'd rather use that console command some dude provided long time ago. Sadly I can't even google that info, there are too much matches that have nothing to do with my goal. So I really hope someone will remember that console command.

i can tell you that if the armors are from the original game, or from a single mod, then doing this is really easy, and will take a very short time (and you don't need to remember which is which, it's just changing it in a box, which already says the type of the armor)

 

i don't think that i have ever seen console commands that change the statistics of equipment in the game

it's really easy to make an identical set of armor, and just change it's type, but this can't be done in game (at least as far as i know)

 

so again, i offer my help, if you choose to accept it

if not, i wish you luck in finding this console command (if such actually exists)

Yes it was a console command. Dude warned me about using it, like it may cause some bugs, yet I never had any problems with it. It simply allowed to set type of armor at which one you're currently looking (like you drop desired piece of armor on a ground, point your crosshair on it, open console, type in something, in the end it had to be either 1 or 0 and boom -- armor changed it's type). It really worked and I was really happy :) Man, I just wish that guy would see this topic :( I remember he had tons of posts and "rep" (or whatever you call it) as well.

I've never tried it on default armors as far as I remember, I'm not exactly interested in those -- I used it only on custom made armors, mostly downloaded from tesnexus.

 

Well, I hope someone will be able to remember it or I'll finally find it on google. If all the above fails, I guess I'll have to download CS and learn it :)

UPD: Although I'm not exactly sure if that's a default oblivion command. Maybe it's from OBSE, I honestly have no idea, I simply can't remember.
