zaelu
Hello everyone! I searched the forums for an appropriate section for my questions and I think (hope) this is the right place. I have used the Nexus platform for Skyrim few years ago and I saw that now it has expanded and it is supporting a lot of other games. So I was thinking that maybe is possible to add another one. And if so how can it be done properly. The game is DCS World http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ It has a big community of moders that are using mainly the JSGME (Jone Soft Generic Mod Enabler), I think many here might now it from Silent Hunter or Il-2 series. The main places where mods ar epublished for this game are: On the DCS World Forums http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=110andOn DCS World Site http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/ The JSGME program is good and does its job but has limitations and I think Nexus might go beyond them. It also has similar way of installing the mods using a folder as a pool for mods and installing them by copying files into main game folder after making back up of originals. Now there is a serious need for having mods installing and updating automatically. And also the community of moders need to agglutinate into groups or teams and create true community packs that can be adopted by everyone in multiplayer and this is not possible if the mods can't be installed by all users very easy and also critical to update automatically. The moding system for this game is pretty simple. In the game folder files and archives (zip files or in some cases zip files renamed with a different extension like miz for missions and trk for replays) can be changed. More than this. Temporary mods can be made by creating folders with names of the archives and adding unpacked files in them that are loaded preferentially ahead of original files from archives. This way you can have a main mod that alters a big archive and a patch or small mod that alters just few files in the archive on top of it. Also, some mods can be placed in the User Folder from Windows in a DCS World folder in "Saved Games". Such late mods can't be installed by JSGME for example. So this is a short presentation of DCS World modding system, my questions would be: How can we add officially this game to Nexus supported games? How can we preconfigure the mods so they get installed correctly by Nexus ? Here is a small presentation of what DCS World is: Thank you for reading this. Edited June 28, 2015 by zaelu

zaelu
Hello, I saw that page and yesterday I had uploaded a small mod for DCS World. However is not clear how that mod will be installed in the game after DCS World is accepted as supported game by Nexus. So that's why I thought I should open this thread too. The mod and the game are waiting approval. Edited June 28, 2015 by zaelu
Thandal
Any mods MUST be (able to be) installed manually. The mod author must provide the installation instructions to allow players to get the mod working in their games. Only a very games are supported by any of the "mod managers". For example, currently the NMM will handle (some, but not all) mods for: MorrowindOblivionSkyrimThe Elder Scrolls OnlineFallout 3Fallout: New VegasDragon AgeDragon Age 2The WitcherThe Witcher 2Dark SoulsDark Souls 2Legend of GrimrockStarboundState of Decay War Thunder World of Tanks XRebirth (There are no public plans for NMM support to any other games.)
