yoshie55
there is talk of a mafia mod and rigging boxing matches etc, would be great for it. Edit:@Glowcat i may be able to do voice-overs if you need them e.g. ring announcer, refs, trainers. Edited February 25, 2011 by yoshie55
Glowcat
there is talk of a mafia mod and rigging boxing matches etc, would be great for it. Edit:@Glowcat i may be able to do voice-overs if you need them e.g. ring announcer, refs, trainers. I'll keep that in mind.10 separate "count" soundbytes could help for the proto-version's count out, which atm consists of the referee awkwardly standing over the downed victim while messages appear on the screen. I'm also looking for animations that would fit with this count out, and a waving of the arms to accompany the referee's call. Unfortunately I haven't had any time since the last weekend to work on the mod more as I've been rather tied up with schoolwork and other obligations. Hopefully I'll be able to do something with it again soon. There were still some bugs that I had to tackle with the referee's during-match movement system and weird problems with the player, unlike the NPC, being unable to get back up after losing the match due to knockout. There was also a minor issue where my strikes would sometimes disarm the AI fighter's boxing tape. If anyone has information for how to prevent that I'd appreciate it. yoshie55
do you mean that the AI fighter's gloves/tape are breaking? If that's the case then set the health of their gloves/tape to an incredibly high number but make sure to create a new set of gloves and tape to do it to otherwise you will mess up all the gloves and tape in the game.If not then i'm not sure what to do. Edit: If you are going to make titles then you should be able to equip then on your waist or shoulder. Also,Entrance robes etc would be cool if you can make entrances later on or just for the indroductions/before the match starts. Also i could record commentary for later on. Edit: Oh theres just one more thing,It would be cool if you can bet with and win any curency like pre-war money,NCR money etc. Also maybe some trophies as well as the titles. I already tried raising the health of gloves as well as auto-healing them each strike but that doesn't seem to be the problem, as the gloves never seem to be actually damaged. I suspect it's tied to default weapon hit-location mechanics. Eventually I do hope to add all that cool entrance stuff and other things but right now I just want the fights to work and be fun by themselves. Creating a new combat system within the game's normal lethal version is going to need a lot more work. The only non-lethal attack they even bothered to put in with vanilla was a flat fatigue damage per hit, without regards to blocking, stats, or anything else that would be tied to the actor and/or technique being used. Once I get my basic match working I'm going to attempt implementing some of the ideas I have to make non-lethal fights more interesting and allow for different kinds of fighters who can excel in their own area. simplywayne90
Recently a friend on the forum posted that he's made a bit of a boxing ring for Fallout New Vegas, but doesn't currently have the time to finish it, the post is here in the requests forum, I've already reposted his request onto my "Modders Resource Thread" since hes a stable contributer, so likely one of the other modelers from that thread will take up the ring and finish it. I'll update when I know more. In the meantime, I'd suggest people post things like Where should the boxing ring be?What type of weapons should be included in the ring? (Bare fists, brass knuckles, taped fists, boxing gloves, power fists?)What humorous things should happen? (Refer to Fallout 2 boxing ring jokes, like your player gets his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson 'sorta')Rewards for fights? Caps, weapons, ammo, women, etc.Special Fights?Cheating possiblites, and Rigged fightsWatching others fightForcing a companion to fight?etc. Just throwing out ideas so that when the resources to make a boxing mod are ready then we will have a good pool of ideas to make it with. tomosuke
Where should the boxing ring be?We should have a normal boxing ring if possible, or at the very least a small arena. Anything too big would make it less... boxing like. What type of weapons should be included in the ring? (Bare fists, brass knuckles, taped fists, boxing gloves, power fists?)Allow any fist weapons, but separate them into categories, kinda like weight classes. What humorous things should happen? (Refer to Fallout 2 boxing ring jokes, like your player gets his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson 'sorta')Honestly get the system up first before thinking about this. Rewards for fights? Caps, weapons, ammo, women, etc.Not weapons, ammo or women. Well maybe women/men. Monetary compensation would suffice. Special Fights?Fighting mutants instead of just fellow humans. Cheating possiblites, and Rigged fightsNot right now. Watching others fightMaybe if you're not fighting NPCs could fight until you trigger a quest. Forcing a companion to fight? If possible, let us have different camera angles when this happens.

devinpatterson
Im happy to hear this. I had a discussion to day with somebody about Boxing and theis UFC stuff. Boxing is a sport, UFC is just..... stupid in a sense. Will they have rigged fights like plated gloves, buffout'd boxers with Psycho enhanced steriods? You know, new unique cocktails of drugs mixed to gether to give the Player a REAL challenge? Hell, even Super Mutant Boxers. You can use C.I.B's resources to create a beefed up super mutant WITH boxing gloves. I can try to create one. Sorry to cause any offense if there are any UFC fans here. Hi DrakenGuard I was curious why you thought UFC was stupid. I'm not offended just curious. I can see why a physician would think it's stupid. I was thinking of making a mod that included martial artists (android instructors) when I found out you could add perks to npc's and even monsters. Some that I thought would be good for boxers was a strikes that crippled the head, perks like toughness, better criticals, tough guy & possibly piercing strike. Oh and I guess you'll have to take fatigue damage out of the mix since the pc isn't affected by it. tomosuke
Have you considered using proxy fatigue.Like set it instead of another value, like the health of gloves and shorts. Wherein the weapon does recover over time. But they get damaged and will make the player more vulnerable to damage. Base the values of PC stats maybe?
