Combining Fallout 3 and New Vegas

I've been poking around the internet looking for any word of folks having combined Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Having come across some failed attempts and a successful attempt but nothing actually useful, I attempted it myself.

 

I tried using FNVEdit to make a combined patch, with the 'copy with deep override' option too.

Unfortunately it seems using the Fallout 3 Master file is a royal pain in the buttocks :rolleyes:

Constantly seeing the message 'Out of memory', or other such errors, I eventually gave up.

I did have a mild success in making the NV master file it's master and the game did load, however the main menu didn't appear so clearly something is wrong.

 

 

What I am asking here is for help in using the Fallout 3 Master file in New Vegas.

 

 

I understand the person who had success in doing so ended up banned due to posting up the entire Fallout 3 master file etc, I'm not asking for that.

I already own Fallout 3 and New Vegas and simply wish to enjoy the views of the wasteland for now, with perhaps some proper integration later on.

Any kind of proper integration in the future would be through a simple exe file, containing no fallout material, that simply makes the neccessary changes to your game files.

This avoids any issues regarding legality, since it actually contains less fallout material than any mod made for the game :happy:

 

So aye, how would I go about enabling the use of the Fallout 3 master file in New Vegas? I'd prefer to avoid simply merging the two, even if I could do so.
