How to load meshes and textures into 3D program like Blender

As you guessed, I'm a downright noob. I just spontaneously said "I can't find good clothes for women that aren't offensive or impracticable, so I'm gonna make some clothes I can actually download." and yadda yadda.

How does one load a skeleton, persay, into the program I need to make a completely new creation? I don't know what file types out of the esp's I all ready have go into the program and when I try file types that are actually clickable there is an error message. So...I'm at a dead end as far as actually getting started. Do I even have the right programs in the first place?

I have the CS for Oblivion and Blender the 3D rendering and animation program.

well, that depends on what you are trying to do

for instance, if you are trying to open an existing armor with Blender, than you need something else (that you will need anyhow, in order to make models work in the game)

you see, the game uses NIF files, but Blender doesn't make NIF files, so for this, you will need NifSkope

and you will need to also install the specific NifScripts, so that you'll be able to convert your creations on Blender to NifSkope

my suggestion to you, as a way to start, is to go to the TESNexus page, and on the right side, find the link to the Nexus Wiki page

in there, you will find many great tutorials, and you'll be able to find tutorials on how to start using Blender and such, so just read the ones that you want, and give it a try :)

All righty and thanks for the acknowledgement. On another site I would have been buried under other questions LOL.

What I wanted to do was make a new companion mod, but it's an animal that is not in the oblivion bible persay at all. I'll have to start from a skeleton of a troll or goblin. A bushbaby, I want to make .The biggest one in that family. About the size of a house cat. I wanted to script it to where it rides on your shoulder, but that has never been done, and I know this, but I think I might have gotten carried away. I was told that might be practically impossible or so complicated it just has to be trashed.

don't know what a bushbaby is, so i can't really say anything about this

as for using a skeleton of a goblin, i'm not actually sure that creatures have skeletons......

maybe they do have them (which will make sense), but if what i remember is true, than they don't

try looking in the CS, or look at their models, or in the directories, and see if you can find such skeletons

wish i could give you a definite answer, but i really have no idea

you could try asking someone, like one of the modders that worked on MMM or something

as for riding on your shoulder, i think it can actually be done (just not in a conventional way)

the way i though of this is the following:

you get a spell with this companion

when you cast this spell, the companion disappears, and you get an item added to your inventory (and equipped), which is this creature sitting on your shoulder (make this as an apparel item)

when you cast the spell again, the item is removed, and the companion appears next to you

it could be done (at least as far as i know, and in this case, i'm quite sure it is possible)
