Problems installing Textures

Hi

Almost every time I try to install new textures to New Vegas I get some problem with some random texture in the game. I have tried to reinstall the game multiple time, and with test based mod installing (install one mod then test the game then another one and so on (took me like 12 hours to do that)). But every time I come to the textures or some mod that is heavy on textures I get problems with some random in game texture. the problem would often be that some random object would use the textures of things around it, I would get a big red block with ! on it (suspect this is from missing meshes), and sometimes the object would just plain and simple turn pink. I suspect that the problem is with my archiveinvalidation.txt since I did not have a problem with this when the program version worked. At the time I am using a program named OCV.exe that makes an archiveinvalidation.txt file for me from all my textures and meshes and so on.

any help in this matter would be very appreciated.

The red box with an '!' is for missing textures the game can't find. The flickering textures is also a symptom. Download this and use it instead. You turn it on once and forget it. Also, are you using FOMM ( Fallout Mod Manager) to install your mods? If not, you should be.

I usually just copy the files needed to the falloutNV/data folder and make the required archiveinvalidated.txt file with the mentioned .exe file. Then I activate the files using FOMM and fix the load order, the reason I don't use FOMM that much to install mods is just because I'm not used to it and I don't quite know how it handles the installing of mods. I used to use the file you suggested, but it stopped working for me and I started using the manual version, which again stopped working so I started making a .txt file instead. but I can try a reinstall of the game with that version of archive invalidation, and I guess I need to learn how to install mods using FOMM.

FOMM takes all the guess work out of installation. If the modder has correctly packaged his mod, then FOMM will put all included files where they should go. The latest version of ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated is very stable and you can even toggle it from FOMM's interface. To install mods with FOMM, just open the package manager, click on AddFOMod, find the mod you downloaded....it will extract the mod, then you activate it, close the package manager, check the new mod and you are good to go. In the tools menu you can toggle the archiveinvalidation on or off.
