admira0
This is more of a tool than a mod, so if there's a section for tool ideas/requests please point me in that direction. What I have in mind is a tool that would essentially create a clean save based on an existing one. It would read an existing save file and then create a new save with the level progress, vanilla/DLC quest flags, faction identities, etc. It wouldn't need to get everything in the save. For example, conversation flags or radiant quests could definitely be left out. The overall point would be to keep the progress of hours of gameplay when your savegame just can't handle the mods anymore (or has some other issues). If creating a save doesn't work, then perhaps a tool that would read one save and then systematically change another save to match. Either way, the goal would be the same: preserving the quests and level progress without resorting to heavy (and slow, and manual) console usage. I've read the S.T.E.P. guide on uninstalling mods (to make it as "clean" as possible), and I realize that going through that process is going to be loads easier than attempting to code a tool that would port the important info to a clean(er) save in an automated fashion. But what about when you have to go through the process a dozen or two dozen times? Or a hundred times? And cleaning saves aside, I'm sure that someone, somewhere might be able to find another application for a tool that can do what I've described above. So, my question is this: How feasable is this idea? Is it possible to implement with a lot of time, effort, and research--or is it completely insane? I'm not terribly familiar with the way savegames work, but I imagine that it would take a lot of manual effort to create a tool that could pick and chose the important bits of info to port over. I'd appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on how hard this sort of thing would be (if it's even possible) and point me in the right direction for more info on what would be necessary to create such a tool.
