Getting custom armor to show up in Awakenings and DLCs

I have an armor mod that I got awhile back (it is no longer available for download), and the armor works in Origins, but doesn't show up in Awakenings or the DLCs. Can anyone tell me how to correct this or guide me to some information to help me get this armor to show up in Awakenings and the DLCs? Edited by Wyldsong

Heyas Wyldsong! :)

This is actually pretty easy, but does take a lot of copy and paste work. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=190180

what you need to do is BACKUP YOUR ADDINS.XML file then start editing that file to include the mods in the new modules. Afraid tho that I dont know what some of the DLC names are tho :( I stopped getting any of them since I havent had much in the way of spare cash lately :(

The addins.xml file is located in documents/bioware/dragon age/settings and to open it up to edit it, you would want to open it up with notepad.exe. XML is originally an internet type of file, like a webpage. So if you just doubleclick on it, it will open up in your browser, and you can't edit it, like that.

Basically all you need to do is copy all your mod addins into a duplicate list, and chance this part of each one-

ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" with ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_EP_1" .
And then also for the name of your other DLC where it's not showing up.

But make SURE that you make a backup copy of that file before you start editing it. If you screw that file up, you're going to lose ALL or MOST of your installed content (Mods and DLC) and will need to reinstall the game to get that file right again.

You could also create a custom script for the items to load the items via console script, but that would require opening up the mod's .erf files in the toolset, so that you could get the item's names. And compile the script.

No problem at all Wyld! :)

I know I said it twice before, but just make sure to make a backup of your addins.xml file before you start up. It will save you a LOT of trouble, if you make an error in your edits. ;)

If you have any further problems or questions, we're here for you :)

Now, I will also go ahead and mention that this is going to give you the same problems as if you were starting a New character. The one where you have to disable the mods before starting up a new toon, and having to play til you can reach a save, then re-enable the mods after you get to a save point.

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve that particular bug, so it will still be present.

Sorry, I shoulda mentioned that before, but forgot about it :(

Good luck!

Well, I spoke too soon about this armor even showing up in Origins. It has been a long time since I have actually used this armor, and I seem to remember it working once upon a time, but I finally tried loading it today, and it seems the model for the armor isn't showing, as my rogue's body becomes invisible. Any ideas? Or would anyone who infinitely more versed in this area be willing to take a look at it for me?

Heyas Wyldsong, sorry to hear that you're still having problems with it.

the problem that you're having is most likely a mod conflict. Tho it could also be a corrupted file. Try reinstalling the mod first. Then we can see what mods might be conflicting if that doesn't work.

which armor is it, and what are the mods that you're running? its easier to just post a screenshot of the list of your mods than it is to type them all out ;)

Well, I figured out the problem. It's not conflicting mods...I remember it working because I used it on a human initially. Elves are another story...the author never configured it for elves. Sigh...time to find another armor if I want my elf rogue to live it up in style.

Thanks for the tips anyway=)

Ahhhhh I see! Yeah, that can most definitely happen if the armor model doesn't include a model for a different race! Similar issue if you remove the restrictions on morrigan's robes, and put it on an elf or dwarf. Because without a mod, the vanilla game doesn't have any elvish or dwarvish body meshes for that item.

Well, I am glad that you got it sorted out, but I'm sorry to hear that it was something that couldnt be WORKED out :(

I hope that you find a suit that you like.

I'm kinda favorable to the Elven Warden suit, with the retex myself, but that's just me.

retex- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1294

or Rapture's Witcher- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1876

or Phoenix armory for females http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1660 (if your char is femme)

You could also check out the top 100 too. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/top/

Oh! And you can try out Phaenen's Winter Forge mod to create your own gear and customize it's stats and stuff to what you like. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=122

And there's nezroy's dye kit that can let you change around some of the colors that are used. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1390

Well, I definitely appreciate the help and ideas. I finally ended up settling on the armor of the black fox. Something about it with a darker color seems to go well with my rogue coupled with the blades from the Phoenix Armory. Now, I just need to actually play through and finish the game...is it sad I have spent more time modding and coming up with tats for this game rather than completing a playthrough?
