linxoa
Ok, I have added MODS before so I'm embarrassed to say this.... My FONV Steam Version has the BSA Files inside the program folder. Some of the MODS I want to install require adding Textures and Meshes to the FOLDERS. However, there are NO FOLDERS, Only BSA FILES. How do I convert the BSA Files to plain Folders? I have FOMM, but the new version is different from the old versions - it now covers both FO3 AND FONV. PLEASE HELP! My laptop crashed I lost all my files/progams. Bought a new smokin hot Alienware Laptop and am ready to MOD like mad!!!!
luthienanarion
If the folders are not there, create them. NEVER edit the BSA files included in the game.
WastelandAssassin
let's separate this into the issue, and an explanation (as they are two different things) mods come with folders like meshes, textures and suchwhen you add these mods, you will be asked to merge the folders, which you must dowhen you add the first mod, he will have the folders that you needand if another mod will add a folder that wasn't there, there is no problem about thisyou don't actually need these folders if you don't have mods, as the game pulls resources from the BSA archivesso, don't mess with the BSA archives, or at least not in this case if you want to use something in the BSA archive (like modifying a texture, using a model etc), you can open the BSA archive using FOMM or BSA Commanderyou can unpack the BSA archives, but it is not recommended, will take lots of space on your computer, and might cause problemsso only mess with the BSA archives if you know what you are doing, and only take the items that you need out of it hope this answers it

I assume the 'New' FOMM does my archive invalidation? The texture and Meshes folders will not over ride the BSA file without that correct? Ok I'm experimenting while I wait lol Thanks! WastelandAssassin
well, i did my Archive Invalidation before FOMM was working for New Vegas, so i just got it in the BoG Type 3 HD body modbut i would assume that you can use the Archive Invalidation option in FOMM with good results, so i guess the answer is yes also, i don't think that the folders overwrite the BSA archiveswhat Archive Invalidation does is allows the game to pull resources that aren't found in the BSA archivesnot sure if it's the same or notthat's not really relevant, but i thought it's worth mentioning (and i was hoping to get a definite answer on what it really does)
