Guest Tessera
Well, let's see... I don't think it's because of your mouse and keyboard. It's good that you tested it with the normal types. Here's a few things to try: (1) First off... Oblivion doesn't get along well with RADEON video cards. A little while ago, ATI released a new beta driver, especially tweaked for Oblivion (supposedly). You might try searching on their official website for it. (2) Try moving your SoundBlaster to an adjacent PCI slot, then re-installing its driver package. (3) Don't run anti-virus or anti-malware shield programs in the background whilst running Oblivion. (4) Don't overclock your CPU or video card. This particular game doesn't like it when you do that. (5) IF you recently installed Windows Media Player version 11... try removing it and reverting back to version 10. On some systems, version 11 has been wreaking havoc with peoples' setups. (6) Your CPU is a tad slow for Oblivion, but I doubt it's causing the lockup. I just mention it to clue you in about upgrading your machine sometime this year... the new games being developed will bury most older machines soon. See if any of the above helps. :)

AS A ONE LAST ATTEMPT I DUMPED EVERYTHING FROM THE PC BUT THE BARE ESSENTIALS, UNINSTALLED OBLIVION AND DID A CLEAN BOOT AND A RE INSTALL ALL TO NO AVAIL.OTHER THAN APPLYING A VIGOROUS BELTING WITH A TEN POUND HAMMER, I THINK A NEW PC MAY BE THE ONLY ANSWER.MANY THANKS FOR YOUR TIRELESS EFFORTSED POWER
