Cryo84
I'm trying to figure out how to go about installing mods in the OS X version of DA. I have a digital copy. I downloaded Modazipin but I have no idea how to use it and there is no documentation. Please help.
DarkeWolf
Hiyas Cryo! Welcome to the nexus forums! :)Ok, I haven't ever done anything on a mac really. But I've heard that for the most part a manual install of the files is the same as it would be on a pc.Here's a link that I found in google, that I'm hoping will help you out. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/519337 I do know that DragonAge ModManager (DAMM) is not mac compatible. I'm not sure if DragonAge Modder (DAM) is either. :(And you're now the 3rd person that I've seen say that they can't get modazipin to work for them. I will state this tho. If you are going about installing mods that require you to update you addins.xml file....ALWAYS make a backup copy of your addins.xml file BEFORE you start editing it! That way you will have a safe copy if you accidentally edit it wrong. And you would NOT be a happy camper if you do. Because it'll screw up any of your mods list from beyond the error, and they will not run in the game.So PLEEEEEEASE make a backup of your addins.xml before making any edits, or any new edits to it. ;)
Cryo84
I appreciate the fast response. Though I'm fairly certain what I need to do in order to get the mod I want working would be beyond what I would feel comfortable doing. Is there any instructions or documentation on how to use Modazipin anywhere? I can't seem to find any.
DarkeWolf
No problem ;) Unfortunately, I'm really unfamiliar with mac. :(I know that you could try to use a windows emulator, like bootcamp. But I'm not sure if that requires having a valid copy of windoze on your system. Which would be expensive. I found a couple of links about modazipin over on bioware social. I'm not sure if they will be any help to you or not. But, the author of the mod hangs out over there, so he Might be able to help you out some as well. http://social.bioware.com/%22http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/99/index/1657591%22 http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/99/index/5922654 Editing the addins.xml file really isnt very hard. Its mostly all just Copy and Paste (CnP) of some lines of code from one file into another one. Its just tedious, because you have to make sure that you get it copied correctly. I'm NOT trying to push you into something that you don't want to do. But I might suggest that if you wanted to play around with it, to just make a copy of the addins.xml file, and open up some of those other .xml files and just play around with them on your copy file, if you ever get bored ;) I definitely wish you good luck, and again... I'm sorry for not knowing more about this on a mac :(
GreyOoze
Dropping manual overrides into the ~/Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Packages/core/Override folder works just fine. For .overrides, unzip them (7 zip) and drop them in that folder too. Works great - there's no need to fiddle with the contents of the .app (even though it has override folders in the cider paths). Obviously the toolset doesn't run on OSX, and attempts to run it under VMWare have mixed results (the character morph heads are all black). Modazipin works with .dazip files only. Go to file->open, pick the dazip file, then click install. You can turn on and off mods by the checkboxes without having to uninstall them.
