Guest deleted3180538
Guys! I'm experiencing graet problem - Oblivion is crashing after like 5-10 minutes in-game if I try to install mods on it. It is fine when I'm running vanilla, but as I add about 10 mods (big ones, like Unique landscapes, B&M, Open Cities, All Natural etc.) the problem occurs. But the game actually runs VERY smoothly with all the mods, I get about 40+ fps in the open space (even e.g. Waterfront with Better Cities). The same thing also happens if I add textures to vanilla oblivion (w/ no mods). I tried almost everything - tweaking ini, Stutter Remover, Streamline, Script optimizer, Oblivion Realoaded (it has vram purge feature), 4 gb patch, UOP, but I still get the same result. And with all this stuff I wonder how people can run it with 200+ mods and textures without any problems! I use all compatibility patches I can find, I use Bashed Patch but it is no use!I own a very decent systemCore i5 3570kZotac GTX 560 AMP! Edition 2Gb8gb RAMWindows 7 Ultimate x64To be honest by HDD is quite old but I doubt it is the case. Maybe the problem is that i use Steam version, but i've seen videos of guys remaking their Oblivion graphics even using Steam.Dis anyone had similar problem? ZZZ02
I think it is because oblivion is running out of memory. No matter how powerful your computer is oblivion can only handle so much memory before it crashes. My advice: try downloading the mod Optimizer Textures from the Skyrim nexus (yes it works for all 3 TES games and some fallout ones too) to reduce the strain on your game.I saw this about streamline in OR description: Streamline's frame rate manager; OR has a REAL high capable frame manager, anyway set FrameRate to 0 if you want to use an other mod. I never heard of script optimizer before but on first glance it has mixed reviews and I am not sure if it is safe or not. Also, the stutter remover seemed to cause me stability issues when I used it, getting rid of it lessened crashes at least in my case.

Running out of memory was and is my primary guess, but why? people manage to run it normally, am I special or what? about OR and streamline - I tried using them both separately and together and there was no difference. Same for all of the patches and mods. I didn't notice any difference between using them and non-using. As to Optimizer textures - is it only useful if I use texture packs or even with non-modified textures?

You're not special - literally everyone else has the same problem with the game - it crashes after a set amount of time. The problem stems from Oblivion's shitty game engine that clings to VRAM like Gollum to the Ring. Optimizer Textures fixed that problem for me and sped up my game too! If you're going with maximum compression, make sure to start a new game. Edited July 8, 2015 by bida2

I tried both standart and minimal settings but none of them gave me desired effect. The game is still uplayable.
bida2
Link us your mod OR search for compatability patches you may have missed. A 5-10 minutes CTD usually happens when there are some mod conflicts.
Guest deleted3180538
This time I tried:UOPUOSIPUO DLC patchRAEVWD + SI EditionRobert Male body ReplacerRobert Female Body replacerOblivion Character OverhaulBlood & MudOpen Cities RebornBetter citiesUnique LandscapesAll NaturalImmersive InteriorsBetter DungeonsCava ObscuraOOOMMM I'm using all compatibility patches I found. But as I understood, if mods were in conflict I would get CTD on some specific action, or the game wouldn't even launch. But I didn't find any patern to crashes. Moreover, the same things happened when I was using only Texture mods (Qarl, Bormet, Grass Overhaul, Detailed Terrain, Kvatch HD etc)
bben46
You are not giving any system specs. Maybe it is being choked by a older GPU or slow CPU?Also - check for background programs doing something. Oblivion is far more susceptible to being crashed by a background program stealing focus to call home than later Beth games Here are some suggestions on how to ask for help that may get more to the point answers. http://s1.zetaboards.com/bbenlibrary/topic/5686144/1/#new

ZZZ02
the only red flag I see is better cities and mud and blood being used together. disable the stand alone mud and blood and upgrade better cities, it is built in now. I think you might possibly have a bad load order but until you post your mod load order including the dlcs/patches instead of a small list I can't confirm that. A bad load order can lead to this.
