Delka
Was working on my mod, perfectly fine, no issues... Saved, took a break, hour later, whenever I try to load my Mod, GECK crashes, all it uses currently is base files, no special meshes or anything. Can anybody help? davidlallen
Welcome to the fun experience of working with geck. It happens frequently that geck crashes on exit, so most modders are used to this behavior. What you are describing is a little different, where geck crashes on startup. I have had this problem several times as well. I highly recommend you download fnvedit from newvegasnexus (along with its training manual) and bring up your mod in fnvedit. It will likely flag some errors, either on loading, or when you select the "check for errors" menu choice. Then you can use the "remove" menu choice in fnvedit to remove whatever has gotten messed up. Save, and hopefully geck will load it successfully. Sadly, it is easy to make inadvertant changes while using geck, such as deleting an object you need. Certain types of changes will cause invalid data to be written when you save, and then geck can't read it anymore. I have never lost any of my actual work due to this, but I have had to use fnvedit to diagnose and fix this type of problem more than once. Delka
My issue with it is that, its only when I go to load the Data, and only when I try to load my mod does it crash. I'm building my own bunker, using nothing but the base objects. I don't think FNVedit would help. >_> [Mind you, I am new to modding.]
davidlallen
I am pretty sure that you have accidentally put invalid data into your esp file, which is easy to do. Please see if fnvedit finds anything. You should really use fnvedit routinely to check your mod anyway, it is indispensible.
Delka
Since you didn't read what I said apparently.. I checked it for you. NO errors, NO problems whatsoever. The mod works in game perfectly fine thus far, BUT, when loading in the GECK, it crashes. Third time I have said this; The file has nothing but base files in it, and each of those were used in it once before earlier in the mod, after saving and reopening, it was fine, an hour later, it crashed the GECK, have tried about 20+ times to load it. [i do apologize if I seem like I'm being an a**, but its annoying.] Edit;Okay, since turning my comp on this morning, the mod crashes the game, but, FNVEdit has no issues with it. davidlallen
I am trying to help you, I am sorry you find it annoying. What you wrote in post #3 is you don't think fnvedit will help, which tells me you had not tried my suggestion of using fnvedit yet. Thank you for giving additional information in #5. In fnvedit, please confirm if you have used the menu choice "check for errors". If you have done that and it does not flag anything, I do not have any more suggestions for geck crashing. For the game crashing, please be sure that the save game you are loading, is from before you started this mod. Sometimes if you save a game with mod data, and then change the mod, the save game loads but the data is all mixed up and the game crashes. Floatsup
hehe, Dave has more patience then I. I also agree though with the FNVEdit, and make sure you only compare with what it tells you too. Whether it solves your problem or not, if your gonna mod, FNVEdit is a MUST HAVE TOOL. I learned the hard way, but managed to save my mod with that program. I HIGHLY Recommend anyone to grab a copy, its also good for load order too, but I dont really care, i make my own world most of the time. Anyway good luck with that crashing thing. I had a similiar thing when I first started, and went back to a previous revision, and that worked, lost a few hours. Couldn't tell you what the problem was, but again, learn FNVEdit, may save your butt.
