Saintxandrews
Hey what's up every body, had a quick question,Can someone give me a step by step answer on what I'm trying to do....Ok here's what I'm tying to do.. Basicly I have downloaded some great armor mods & some dope weapon mods.I want to go inside the GECK & equip NPC's with the armor and guns. Let's say for example I have downloaded "Drags Modern Gunslinger Armor" and I really want to replace the NCR veteran rangers with it. Does anybody know how I can do that. ??????Because once I figure it out I plan on changing up all the npc's the way I want. This is my first post & Im a little new to modding. I know how to use the G.E.C.K. A bit. But I'm not on that expert level, ya dig!
SKYZOO
I'm consistently doing this with new armors, for a personal mod including new factions and creature replacements. The best thing I have found for a major armor replacement mod is this method:1. Install whatever mod you want to use's textures folder into FONV/data/textures folder. (Use the folder found in the mods data/textures folder.)2. Make a new folder in your meshes, called "MyArmors" or whatever you want. (This will help you to find your armors without having to go through multiple folders to find the one you want.)3. Add the mod of your choice's meshes (.NIF files) to your newly created folder. (the actual .NIF files from the mod, not the whole meshes folder)4. Open GECK, go to items>armor and find your "Ranger Duster" and double click to edit it.5. In the armors editing box, you will see "male" and "female" with "biped model" under it. Click "edit" and it will open a tab called "model data". Under "model file name" click "edit".6. Now navigate to your newly created "MyArmors" folder, and select the 'Drag'sModernGunslingArmor.NIF' or whatever it is called. You will see it pop up in the "model data" window, as it looked in the pictures when you downloaded it (unless it has separate accessories). Click "ok" in "model data" and then 'ok' in the armor editor tab. (The biped model is what is worn, the world model is what you see when you drop your armor on the ground, and the icon image is a .DDS/texture file icon for your armor when viewing in your pip-boy.) The ranger duster will now be the model of the outfit that you downloaded. You will have to do the same thing under "female" if you have female ready .NIF/meshes available to use, with the exception of very few power armors and some full head engulfing helmets. All in all it would look like this:FONV/Data/Meshes/MYArmors/123armor.NIF (just an example name)FONV/Data/Textures/whatever folder was in your mod's texture folder/123armor.DDS (another example)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Once you start to work with leveled lists for armor and weapons along with npc templates to distribute armors and weapons it gets a bit more complicated. I'd type that out but that requires a few pictures and a lot more text, and since you are newer to the GECK I'd prefer to see if this works for you. Fully integrating everything requires several steps I haven't even touched on here, and a lot of patience as replacing everything gets old very quick in my experience.
