Jetta12
I've been searching through the mods and the forum to find some information on this. I enjoy using iron sights, but wish I could make them semi-transparent. As an avid shooter in real life, i find it invaluable to open both eyes when trying to find your target. you get a better field of view, can see below the gun/barrel with the non-dominant eye, and still see the sight through the eye looking down the barrel. Are there any mods that would make the first person iron sights ~60% transparent? The only thing I've found on this topic are fixes for transparent sights, but no reference as to how they become that way. also, there are a lot of enhanced texture packs, but i've found noting useful in the description. One big issue: I'm using the Tale of Two Wastes mod, so it would need to work in the Mohave as well as the Capitol Wastes.
Moraelin
Hmm... I suppose you could 1. make a second .nif for the weapon, with the alpha set in the material property to 0.4 (40% opaque) or such, and use it as basically the scope view. I never actually tried it, but I do know that weapons which have a scope, have a mesh for the overlay when you look through the scope. You know, those black borders and crosshairs and stuff. I guess it should be possible to make it be a model of the weapon instead. Downside, you would need to do that separately for each and every gun you want to use. OR 2. just keep your eyes farther back when you aim, so the gun doesn't take as much of your screen. Each gun has an aiming node in the .nif, which basically tells it where your eyeball is when you use the iron sights. Moving it back (or front) is as easy as typing a new number for its X coordinate in NifSkope. For reference, 1 unit in the mesh is about 0.55 inches, assuming that a human is about 5'10" tall. I.e., an average human nowadays. But you probably don't need to worry about that. Just try until it looks about right to you. Again, see the previous downside. You need to operate every single weapon. OR 3. Just use scoped weapons. There are plenty of such weapons in the downloads section, and you can also use WMX (Weapon Mods Expanded) to be able to add scopes to a few more vanilla weapons. I know it's not what you asked for, but it does obstruct the view the least. Just as a backup idea, is all.
