Unplayable Camera Bug

Recommended Posts

Hello, and thankyou to anyone who has taken the time to read this and give me a hand, as I could really do with it right now.

I've been modding Oblivion for a little while now, and i've installed quite a few mods with absolutely no problems at all (i've been installing through OBMM for most, and manually where necessary), and today I decided to install the mod 'Borderless Cyrodiil', as ini tweaking to remove borders does not seen to work for me. I installed it manually as it just came with one .esp file, but when I loaded my came I got this bug with the camera. The bug makes it so that I can move fine, but my mouse no longer controls where my character looks or moves, it just floats aroud him, so he always moves in the exact same direction. Also my mouse buttons no longer do anything, along with the switch to 1st person camera, it is permenantly in 3rd person and will not change. However all the other controls seem to work fine, such as draw weapon, and bring up inventory.

I have deleted the mod, tried new saves, made a new character, deactivated every single one of my mods, but still the problem persists, and I have absolutely no idea what to do. As you can imagine this is completely gamebreaking, and what makes it worse this mod should have no effect on this area of the game, and after getting rid of it the problem still stays.

Any help would be really appreciated, thankyou.

delete the ESP then change the line bBorderRegionsEnabled to 0 in your oblivion INI, it is in the documents->my games folder

PS: I thought only zip/rar files can be uploaded here first time I ever saw a pure ESP on the nexus

Thanks, and yeah the mod came as just an .esp, and i tried editing the .ini beforehand but it didn't work for me thats why I had to download the mod. But thats not really the problem at the moment, its more the camera bug.

I seriously think that the esp in combination with some other mod may be causing this camera bug, does it happen when you remove the esp have you tried changing the change POV button?

are you sure you didn't modify the Oblivion-default INI in your oblivion directory by mistake, that one does not do a thing.

I use Maskars Oblivion Overhaul, it comes with a feature that forces borderless feature as well it works very well, try that instead.

Yeah thats the annoying thing, I don't see how it could influence that aspect of the game, so I have no idea what has happened. Also yeah I plan on using Maskars Overhaul, but I didn't realise it had that feature, here is a video of it aswell if it will help at all.

looks like the vanilla vanity camera, it happens when you hold the change POV key the only difference is it is stuck on vanity mode sorry but I never heard of a glitch like this. If a mod is causing this then it is not worth it even for a feature like removing borders. If you are going to use Maskars overhaul, that mod isn't needed anyways

Edit: Just thought of something is your computer a laptop by any chance if it is, remove the external mouse if not, you may need a new mouse. This is just be a hunch but I think something may possibly be off with the mouse wheel causing it to be counted as permanently pressed. That is the only thing I can think of that makes sense for every scenario both inside oblivion and out. if pressed, everything else will still work 100% as things like the internet will not show any function to it being already being held down while being used even the wheel will work (tested). Oblivion is not like that, if the mouse wheel is ever held down at any time for more that a second, it force activates vanity camera until it is released.

Oh my, thanks so much! Sorry for wasting so much time with such a simple fix, it worked completely. Yes my mouse button is completely stuck and I didn't even notice, I admit not one of my best moments, but thankyou none the less! I guess i'm going to have to get a new mouse...

If you ever need help with anything from me, (Not likely) just ask.:)

I am glad it is fixed, the last thing for anyone to expect is something like that. I almost never use a mouse myself, Oblivion is the only game that requires it for full camera control, annoying especially since my left port is broken. but in the end figuring these things out ARE what these forums are for and trust me, EVERYONE has at least one duh moment I think I am at 3 now.
