jallard
H All! I could use some help in playing FNV? For example, I can never seem to get ED-E to activate beyond the initial plea from the Enclave scientist. When we get to Helios One and talk with the scientist from the Friends of the Apocalypse, rest for 48 hours –according to a walkthrough that I read-- When I talk with this guy a second time ED-E does not respond. Also, I am not quite clear on the walkthrough regarding Veronica and her Brotherhood –regarding Helios One? Do I or do I not activate Archimedes II along with powering up the grid for the NCR –If I go there before doing her quest?!? Just so you know too, with my personality and the way that I think or see things in real life, it leads me toward siding with the NCR throughout the game. However, I am also inclined to ride the fence with the Friends of the Apocalypse. Caesar and his henchmen are Nazis in disguise and I abhor them for their beliefs. Maybe it’s my old age as a post war baby and growing up during the Cold War. All that being said, however, I would welcome any all help in setting up some sort of game-play strategy. Thank you. Maniac3020
ED-E has triggers built into the scripts related to it, that go off when certain events happen while it's in your party. There is a set number of events that need to happen before the next message will play, so unless you played your game exactly like the guy who did the walkthrough, it's quite likely that you haven't triggered the required number of events for the next message to play. As for Helios one, for the superlaser (Archimedes 2) to work, Helios One will need to divert all it's power to charge it. However, there is also an Archemedes 1, which is a local defense system for Helios One. Only activate Archemedes 1 if you want to kill all the NCR troopers stationed around the bottom of the tower.Archemedes 1 can be activated as long as you pick any option other than Emergency Output; picking that option will devote every ounce of power Helios One can generate to the power grid. As for where to route the power, that is more up to where you want it to go, and what rewards you want.-Macarran and The Strip - This will get you NCR reputation and some caps from Fantastic.-Freemont and Westside- This will please the Followers of the Apocalypse, but not as much as diverting power to everywhere.-Everywhere- The Followers think this is the best option; it will get you Positive Rep with them, and Ignacio will give you a Big Book of Science.-Archemedes 2- This will divert power to the Superlaser, allowing you to use Euclid's C-Finder to call down the Superlaser once a day; this will also gain you a bit of rep with the Followers-Everywhere, Emergency Output- This will cause Helios One to divert all power to the grid, robbing Archimedes 1 the power it needs to work. No rep is gained, but Ignatio will still give you some rewards. The options can be changed at any time, untill you descend to the panel on the outside of the tower and throw the switch, at which point the solar reflectors will realign, and the option(s) you have selected will engage, and will be permanently locked into place. Thanks for the insight maniac3020. It is much appreciated. I was under the impression that you could activate both: that is to say, diverting the power to Vegas and Macarran and to activate Archemdes II. As it is thus far, having restarted the game, I picked up Sunny as a companion and then proceeded to pickup Veronica. Not having been to Boulder City at any time thus far, I decided to go there after picking up Veronica. Now I have been accepted by both the NCR and the Khans. Also, as we were heading toward PRIMM I ran into the Ranger who gave me a radio, to call them if I ever needed aid. So, that's where I am at now. Sarogath
you might want to think about your companion very thouroughly. as for Veronica i dont know what version of the game you are running or whether you have any mods installed but i do know that there can be a bug related to her quest that causes you to not be able to finish Veronica's quest (which i found rather dull tbh but thats my opinion and i dont wanna spoil some quest-elements by calling it by name^^). i also found it a bit better to choose a companion that fits your own fighting style e.g. if you were a sneaky cut-throat operating from around a corner or sth Veronica'd be a good choice since she'll support close range with quite a punch. on the other hand if you played a sniper-character Veronica might not come in quite as handy because you engage the enemy @ long range whereas Veronica has to walk/run to the enemy to deliver that punch of hers. i am aware of the micro-management options there are for your companion, still i find these options way too "micro" to really give you the old Fallout feel as if you had a party to lead through the wasteland... as for game progression... i find it funny or from my point of view a bit odd that you already have been to the trading post but havent come about primm^^, of course there is no necessity to visit primm @ all but you might wan to bear in mind that even the "early" areas can yield quite some goodies speaking weaponry and armor, so some exploring will reap benefits... for factions... well i find them all to be quite backwards in my opinion. caesar's legion is a pack of slavers who think they know better. NCR are a bunch imperialistic capitalists who think they know better. the followers of the apocalypse have given in to the aggressive expansion of the NCR same as with the Khans. powder gangers cant make up their mind whether they like me or not but whenever i return to some of their lands a few attack me (tho i tried to solve all related quests in their favor).i find town-factions dont really have that much of an effect on the game @ all but then again i havent finished it yet... have a good one! jallard
As for what game version I have it is current with Steam --for what that's worth. However, I have been having major issues with my game not shutting down properly. Whenever I exit out o the game it closes to the Fallout New Vegas splash screen and then stops responding. 9 out of 10 times I have cntrl>alt>delete, to close it down. And, that's not good for my computer. I have spent the better part of Friday uninstalling and reinstalling the game, along with all of the mods I have had installed. Still, it continues to lockup upon exiting. Currently I have Veronica and Sunny and I am about to go to PRIMM and do that quest --along with Picking up Misty. As for Veronica, I have all of the mod fixes installed for her --especially the one that fixes the end of her quest. I don't know but with all of the trouble that I am having with the game I may just quit playing it and wait for Dragon Age 2 that I have pre-ordered. Here's hoping that Bethesda's next installment to Oblivion with surpass all expectations, but I doubt it: just like l doubt that Dragon Age 2 will somehow surpass Dragon Age Origins --especially with EA calling the shots now. Sarogath
i'm with you on the exiting-crash for F:NV. i do get it too but i'm fairly sure that this is my own fault due to the overuse of mods... if you happen to have a lot of mods installed you might try merging the files to a patch... this is actually thought to bring game-improvements FPS-wise but maybe it can fix your problem with the crashing too ...
