silentx3ro
Hi,First of let me say thanks to everyone putting out mods for all the work involved. I stumbled across the nexus a couple of days ago and I've been installing mods ever since :) Ok so onto my problem. I have quite a few Armor/weapon combos install and I'm having some trouble with them. Heres the list of armor/wep mods I'm using;Adonnay's Weapon ReplacerHsli Female Armor ReplacerHsli Sexy RobesRashantas ArmoryDevout ArmorFrostmourneModGW Runic ArmorLSAA v1.1 (Leliana Sacred Ashes Armor)XT Phoenix Armory I'm using these in the lastest version DA:O So the issue is that all armors display correctly on my player characters, at least the ones they are supposed to, obviously female armors don't display on males, however none of the above armor mods work on any of my companion characters. When I equip the armor parts the party member becomes a floating head piece by piece. The problem is only occuring with Armors, all the weapons seem to display as they should. Additionally the Warden Commander Armor from the DLC is doing the same, It shows fine on my player but not on any companions. I'm going to do further testing with the default armor models but so far they display as normal. I had a search on the forums but couldn't find anything that explains why they would display on my characters but not on my party members. Any help would be appreciated. DarkeWolf
Heyas Silentx :) Welcome to the nexus! I'm glad to hear that you're liking our site, and hope that you continue to do so :)I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems tho. An educated guess would be that you have two mods that are in conflict. Most likely you have two mods which both modify the base armor meshes/textures, and the game doesnt know what to do with them, or which one to use. What you need to do is go thru and uninstall some of the mods, one by one. To find the culprits that are causing the conflict. And in this particular case, you also need to remove the files that the mods added to the game. These can be found in documents/bioware/dragon age/addinsanddocuments/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override. not all mods install to BOTH these folders, but some do. what you will need to do is uninstall one mod at a time, and then remove the folder that they installed, along with the information inside those folders. Uninstall one at a time. Load up the game. It will give you a message saying that so and so is missing, do you want to force load? Tell it that you want to force load. Then in the game, change the clothes/armor that the character is wearing, to refresh it's body mesh. If it's still screwed up, exit the game, and try removing another mod. Rinse and repeat. My guess at the conflict would be Hsli Female Armor Replacerand Rashanta's Armory. I know that Hsli's mods affect the base armor as his are always replacers, not new items. Good luck, and if you have problems still, feel free to post back :)And again, Welcome to the Nexus! :)-DW
silentx3ro
Thanks Darkewolf, I'll give it a shot and update here.I would have stripped them all out and added them back in one by one till I recreated the problem already but I was thrown by the fact that they display on my player character with no problems. Xero Update; Disabled Rashantas Armory and Hsli Female Armor replacement, problem still occuring, Im going to try taking everything out and adding them in one by one, also disabling all other mods just to remove them from the equasion. Update 2: Well that was a huge fail....I uninstalled everything then reistalled Rashantas Armory to test one by on and I bricked my save..../golfclap to me!Going to roll a new character then try installing one by one to avoid dependancy crashes Update 3: I uninstalled all my mods rolled a new character to test them one by one and all the armor/wep mods are playing nice....Typical. So now I'm going to install the ones that shouldn't be having an effect on the armors Final Update: Reistalled all my mods and was unable to recreate the problem. Only advice I can give anyone with the same problem is to wipe all mods and reistall armor mods first then all other mods. silentx3ro
Well it appears that I spoke to soon. On the new character I tested I uninstalled everything and played to the point where I had my dog, Alistair, Morrigan, Leliana and Sten in my party to give me enough to test all the mods armors. I then started testing the mods and was unable to recreate the problem, however since I just used one of the cookie cutter faces and Esc spammed my way through all the cutscenes, convos, etc to that point I started a new character to play the game without missing bits since I had managed to "fix" the mods.I disbled all the mods that I should have when creating a new character and, at the first available point, saved my game and re-enabled the mods....everything worked fine...Huzzah!I reached the point where I had all of the above party members again (and they had the pre-req to use the moded in gear)...equiped the shineys and BAM! Floating head army (once again my Player was unaffected). I can only assume that the problem is occuring like this because the gear mods were installed after Player creation but before party recruitment (the items in question worked on starting area companions)I would sit and work out what mod is causing this problem but I really don't feel like spending 1 hour+ in-game for each test! Going to play around a bit see if I can fix it without a re-roll. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Thandal
The "Floating Head" problem can occur due to a number of different causes. (Well, they may be the same cause, but I haven;t been able to isolate it yet.) Do you have either the UDK or the NV4 mod installed? Those two have been the most frequent culprits in my games...
silentx3ro
Yeah I have the Universal Dye Kit installed but I didn't have it installed when the problem occured at frist. Its also worth noting that on my "Test" character, that I used for all the tests in the above posts, all the textures still display correctly even if loading directly from the new character on whos party the textures dont work. The only thing different is at what point in the story the mods were installed/enabled. I tried disabling the armors, forcing the game to load, changed zone, save and exit, then re-enabled the armors but it didn't work. Also tried uninstalling UDK but that produced no results either. As much as it pains me, im going to try and reproduce the results of my "Test" character but with all non armor mods installed from the start to see if the point at which I enable the mods is really having an effect.
