fadedglory189
Hi there people. I've just signed on; as I am looking into buying the PC version of Dragon Age (and LOVED it on the xbox!! :P) I have a few questions though about some of the mods, as well as the whole game in general. Firstly: Is there any mods made that could possibly get more than one protagonist character in one game? Was playing through again and thought it would be a laugh to see a Human Noble and maybe a Dalish Elf in the same game, maybe even vie for the same person?? And secondly: I have looked at the requirements to have the game loaded onto my computer, and some are fine, but there are a few things that I think I might be lacking. Is there any way to get like the graphics card updated without splurging a whole lot of money into it? Cheers to all helpful peeps.
Codifer
Hi Faded Glory, The choice of a graphics card is dependent on the other elements of your computer. What CPU are you using? Do you have AGP or PCI graphics? What memory speed and capacity and what is the capability of your mother board? I have found fairly good pricing on used graphics cards which I employed in a pinch just because they were affordable and better than the one I was using. I bought an ATI x800 on Ebay and was well pleased. However, that card, while it did play Dragon Age, was not powerful enough to render texture detail and there were some slow places and actions in game play. It all depends on what your expectations and desire might be as far as graphics level is concerned. What are your current computer specifications? The mod you suggested sounds great but I know of none that would do what you desire. Cheers

Cheers Hey Codifer I believe my Processor is a AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-70 with 2.00GHz, the memory speed of the RAM is also 2.00GHz. Now the graphics card I believe I have is a ATI HDMI Audio. Don't ask for the numbers on it, I cannot for the life of me find them! :wallbash: though, looking it up online, it might be an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics with up to 2048 MB of HyperMemory. I could be wrong... If I need to get a new one, would I need to take it in to a computer place and they put the newer one in? Awww, mud  Guess one can still dream, right? :P
Codifer
Hmmmm.... What I have looked into so far indicates that you have a laptop. That would mean that there are not many easy ways to improve the graphics card. Best advice is to try installing Dragon Age and see what happens. Graphics may not be the best but you might still have some enjoyment. There will come a time when you find a desktop for sale cheap and that will at least unlock some gaming power. Desktops are also more easily upgraded. Hope this helped, Cheers Edit to add: http://computermonger.com/ati-mobility-radeon-hd-3200-review-benchmark.html This review would seem to indicate that it will most likely play Dragon Age. You might not (probably not) see eye color other than black.... but you will get used to that. Enjoy and plan for the future. As for mods.... there are many fine additions. Best to "browse" that section of Nexus. They are listed by function (armour, game play, texture etc). Cheers again Edited February 22, 2011 by Codifer
fadedglory189
Haha, yep that's right. :turned: it has helped so much, I actually did a little happy dance when I read that  You are awesome mate! thanks so much  I have to say, some of the features of my laptop have me baffled some days, and I've had it near 2 or 3 years! I'll definitely be looking down the entire list of the mods in the next few days. Would it matter if I got a few of them downloaded now when I don't have the game yet? or should I wait once I've got the game disc?
Codifer
Depending on your hdd space, go ahead and down load them now. It would be a good time to organize them as to type (DAzip or Override) as well as into categories {Clothing, Weapons, Armour etc). That way, if you ever have to do a reinstall, you will spare yourself much searching,,,,,,, I found this out the hard way. Some of the more complex mods have long read me files or even manuals to help set up the changes. Be sure to check out the individual mod's descriptions, requirements (other mods), and comments for information on possible conflict. Some do not play well with others and the conflict can cause problems to game play..... sometimes bad ones. If you install hair, face, eye and cosmetic mods please look at the "Chargenmorph Compiler" it works very well to sort out conflicting files. There are also several threads concerning mod recommendations and represent a wide range of preferences.... there is something for everyone in Dragon Age. I have a very many installed which are my favorites but my tastes and yours might not be the same. I will, however, recommend one "must". That would be "Dance Party" by Firineach and umpa..... delightful. Enjoy. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/categories.php <---------- browse that one. Hope this helps, Cheers Edit to add: It would be a great idea to check out "Dragon Age Mod Manager" it is a bit confusing (but it has a manual) and does help to keep all the mods visible and organized. It will also alert you to potential conflicting mods. It is also essential to the setup of some of the more complex mods.
