thebradz
This is my first time playing through Dragon Age: Origins, and I have been having this continuing, strange problem from the beginning where I can't turn off sustainable spells (Flaming Weapons, Arcane Shield, etc.) on any of my characters, whether I'm in or out of combat. The only way they turn off is when a character dies or when going to a completely new area. What's even stranger is the manner in which I can activate them, I've noticed that if I've had a big area transition or have just loaded into the game, it won't let me activate any abilities whatsoever until I've been in combat, this includes casted spells as well as sustainable which means for example Wynne won't cast a heal until she's auto-attacked someone first to get into combat - this was a HUGE pain when playing through the Fade in the Circle of Magic, at times I couldn't shapeshift and had to teleport to another area to find enemies to get into combat. When trying to steal something and I haven't been in combat, my character will walk up to the person and speak as if using the skill, but he won't. However, if I go and find a fight and get into combat (seems I have to at least auto-attack to get into combat) it will then work perfectly until reloading back into the game. It also seems that I have to do it for each character, say if I was just in combat and it was working, and then I swap a new party member in, the new party member won't be able to cast anything while the current members will be. I'm running w/ Awakening 1.04, most DLC and 3rd party addons Character Respec Addon v1.6, Deathblow_Lieutenants_Plus-220, More Hairstyles v.022a, No Follower Autolevel v1.3, NoStartingAbilities_v1_3-9 Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's getting very tiresome! :)
thebradz
Strange. I believe the reason was because of a rogue Improved Atmosphere override that I found... not sure how that slipt past me but it seems fixed now.
Thandal
Welcome, theBradz! Glad you got it sorted. But looking at the time stamps, I hope you didn't stay up all night trying to fix it!
