I have downloaded only 1 rar file every(I always download zips cause they are the only mod files I can get to work) because I dont know how to get rar files to work. I download them and everything, I just dont know in any way of how to get them to work. Can SOMEBODY please tell me how to use a rar file, I hate having to skip mods because they are a rar file! I recomend WinRAR becuase it is one of the best free compressed file viewers and extractors etc. You can just google it. Or you can go here i believe that will download it for you. Naomasa Posted January 17, 2007 Author Share Posted January 17, 2007 This is a very interesting situation. I have two computers, 1 for gaming and 1 for internet. My internet computer has winzip extractor and viewer thing on it, my gaming doesnt. Does that mean I have to have winzip on my gaming computer even though I downloaded it on my internet computer. I use a flashdrive to bring mods from my internet computer to my gaming computer. There is no way ill set up my gaming for internet so thats not an opition either. Thanks for any help. Ps, does rar files look just like zip files once they are both extracted cause both files are identical. maybe im putting my rars in the wrong place. You aren't permitted to use it past the trial period, even though they didn't bother including something that PREVENTS you from doing so. *Stabs Naomasa with a pin*I use WinRAR on .7z files no problem, and while the little registration box does get annoying when you're trying to quickly extract stuff, it can be gotten rid of just by reinstalling/updating the program for an extra 30 days annoyance free. The main difference between zip files, and rar files is that it's easier to sort out the destination directories in a rar file. Winzip lacks that little feature, as do most the other no-name programs. This becomes somewhat important with Oblivion mods since this directory structure is not always setup right by the person who made the mod. Meaning you usually have to selectivly extract files to their correct directory, or spend a few hours trying to get rid of magenta equipment or missing body parts. In the same place as all my zips-in the data folder-well most zips anyway. Is it simply not working since I dont have it in the right folder?If not in the data folder, then what folder? Thanks!
