Missing DAUpdater.exe

Recommended Posts

I'd like to get a ton of fun mods that use DAZIP files, but alas I looked into my Program Files but I don't have a Bioware or Dragon Age folder. I do have the override in my Documents, but not Program Files or Program Files(x86) (i use 64 bit).

I got Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition off of Steam a few months ago.

If anyone can help me, whether it be finding a way to get the DAUpdater that'll help me put DAZIP mods onto my game, or something that will do the same, I'd be super grateful.

Here are mod managers that can install .dazips:

1. Dragon Age Mod Manager (DAMM): link (instructions for use of DAMM: link), or you can use

2. Dragon Age Modder (DAModder): link

Instructions for modding Dragon Age Origins: Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies.

If you want to use the DAUpdater, check in "Program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/" then the game folder. The DAUpdater should be in the "bin_ship" folder.

I would recommend using DAMM because, for me, it's the easiest to manage and install your mods.

Also, if you don't mind, may you please tell me if DAMM installed your mods (.dazips and .overrides) without issues. Thanks and have fun modding.

Edit: Most probably you will encounter .override mods (mods with an .override file extension) sooner or later. Only DAMM can install and configure .overrides.

One small warning: there is quite a bunch of mods which do not mesh well with DAMM. DA-Modder seems a safer choice. And as you got your game from Steam, then it is installed under one of Steam directories. Mine is from Origin, so I cannot help you locate it, but literally every game from Steam I have goes into a rather dimly-named folder under Steam. Did you make a system search? The exe you are looking for is in a folder called "bin_ship".

I've been using DAMM for the past five (almost six now) years. Never had a problem with any .dazip or .override mod.

I occasionally use DAUpdater and, even less frequently, NMM, (just to test things) but NEVER use DAModder.

So you have two opposite perspectives! Guess you'll have to see what works for you...
