I can't use OBGE's shaders

So I'm pretty sure I've installed the OBSE and the OBGE (and the optional extras) correctly, even that configuration item on the miscellaneous part of my inventory shows up, but as soon as I close the inventory nothing shows up.

I checked the console after I've done that and it tells me that the "shaders" were loaded. Dozens of them. But nothing happens.

I've read somewhere that I should create a shaderlist.txt in the shaders folder of Oblivion/Data, which I did, and that I should paste the complete name of the shader (and the extension) over there, which I did as well - but still, nothing happens.

This is driving me nuts. Could there be anything wrong between my computer and the game? I have a ATI HD4870. (I'm guessing that's all that matters)

I've had that problem, too (not that I had to create a shaderlist.txt). The problem vanished on its own and my game eventually allowed me to use it after a couple days. Of course, that was just me. I know someone else will kindly help, but I would also like to know the reason for it, too.

Okay I dealt with setting OBSE and OBGEv2 up last night for the first time and I was fairly disappointed in the main forum thread - from what I can tell it basically gives you no information on how to actually get the mod working. After researching the subject for 2 hours I found out that you have to press Shift and left click to enable a shader from the OBGEv2 item's menu in order to enable the shader, or Ctrl to disable it. Maybe I'm an idiot and I missed something obvious, but I couldn't find that info in the readme.

Maybe that helps you? Once I figured that out I realized the shaderlist.txt stuff is kind of unnecessary, though I do suppose once you have everything set up you can just specify the shaders you know you're using from a shaderlist.txt instead of loading all of them and waiting the extra 30 seconds.

*edit* Okay I realize that probably didn't help you guys at all. You should double check to make certain that the OBGE config file in your My Documents\ My Games folder has bEnabled = 1. Also, make sure that there aren't two copies of the .esp floating around in the Oblivion folder directories maybe?

Be sure to download the DirectX update listed in the Readme. At first I skipped that step thinking "My DirectX is up to date, I don't need that.". Wrong. After I did what the readme told me to do the shaders worked.

Also I found that after you use the OBGEv2 key in your inventory it moves to the Options key.

Go into your OBGE Support menu while playing Oblivion by clicking the special object in your inventory.

Shift+Click turns effects on.

Ctrl+Click turns effects off.

Some of them may not work for whatever reason. I know ColorEffects and Godrays are broken for me. Just try them all one at a time and observe the effects. You'll need to do this each time you start Oblivion unless someone can get the .txt method figured out.

Actually the newest rc from that google site doesn't work either as it should. Some shaders work for me but most won't do anything in my game. And the Ati HD4870 (and my 4850) should be able to run all 3.0 shaders.

Remember to download the standalone effects as well and activate them in the shaderlist.
