FrenchieDwemer
Hello folks, I've been making a weapon of my own for quite a while and it's pretty much finished now, except for one thing. I'm experiencing an odd glitch with a part (the receiver) of the gun that I've been unable to fix on my own, and hours of intense, angry research all over the Internet haven't proved very fruitful so far. Since pictures speak louder than words... http://www.noelshack.com/2015-29-1437217196-randomname.jpg (I tried to insert the picture directly into the post, but the nexus wouldn't allow me for some reason. Sorry about that.) As you can see, when looked at under particular camera angles, the receiver just vanishes into thin air. And I've absolutely no idea why. I think it began after I re-scaled the receiver in NifSkope a while ago, thing is, I don't have the previous version anymore. See, I'm no professional modeller. I only know how to merge meshes together in NifSkope, rescale the whole thing and move a couple vertices, fiddle around with the textures and maps, and that's about it. I did get Blender, but I don't know how to use it. I had a similar problem in Skyrim with a helmet and basically just "fixed" it by scrapping it altogether. So, essentially, I feel kinda powerless. So I'm coming to y'all for advices and possibly a workaround, well, so long as it only takes NifSkope to get there I guess... Otherwise, here's the mesh if someone experienced feels like taking a look at it. I'd really, really appreciate that. Thanks.
FrenchieDwemer
Bump. Please guys, I've been struggling with this for far too long already. It's most likely the tiny last bit of modding I'll ever get into my game, and it tortures me just to leave it hanging and unfinished.
ThatOtherUser
I have no idea, but it seems oddly specific angling. Have you already tested the weapon in game to see if the glitch replicates there, and it's not just the model viewer doing that? It also looks like when you turn the camera, the model itself slips under the red background, like it's split in half. EDIT: Ohhh, I see what you mean. The receiver where the magazine connects to the rifle. I honestly have no idea why it does that, but again, have you tested it in-game? Does it do that in anything else besides the model viewer? FrenchieDwemer
I have indeed. I've been using this model for a while already, and constantly changing bits there and there time and again. It does do this in game as well. As for the the background going through the model, it's like that by default, regardless of the camera angle and, as far as I can tell, it's the same with every other weapon. But yeah, I admit it's kinda hard to tell with the first two pictures. Either way, I think it's completely normal. Well, that or there's something wrong with my GECK. FrenchieDwemer
Alright folks, I fixed it at long last. I still am clueless as to why this thing ever happened at all, but whatever. I just exported/reimported this thing to and from .obj in NifSkope, copied the NiTriStripsData of the imported mesh and pasted it over that of the original .nif receiver. If that can help anyone, as peculiar as my problem was...
