Too much ammo causes FPS crash?

Olla everyone

So basically my problem is this: Too much ammo in ammo boxes in my armory causes FPS to crash to 10 or less. Its a single room/interior cell containing bunch of cabinets, shelfs and ammo boxes. Everything works great untill i put ammo in my ammo boxes. The more ammo i put in it the slower the game gets. Its a pretty simple problem I think so if anyone has a solution that would be awesome. But please don't just say put less ammo in it because that is a stupid answer. The problem is only with the vanilla ammo boxes and ammunition so i didn't put this topic with the mod troubleshooting.

Little side question: I have mods here that need to be organized by load order. I can't get it to work so I'm plagued with constant game crashes.

This is because the cell has poor lighting I bet. 100 ammo boxes or any other cluttered item in a cell with 4 lights in it that overlap (bad light) is 400 light calculations. This having to be calculated as the player moves. Try turning on the Light radius in the view tab. Then move the lights so that each radius doesn't overlap another. It's okay to have a cell that isn't perfrectly lit. In fact it looks better if it's poorly lit. Which often will reflect the actual wasteland falling apart at the seams. Don't believe meh? Read it fer yerself... The GECK main page

The clutter itself has a limit too. Havok starts giving a warning in the GECK around 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 something like that. Ammo boxes themselfs will float a bit from them having poorly designed havok collision meshes an settings inside the mesh. This causing them to bug out or bounce a bit thus throwing a stack into a water fall effect. While cool looking this eats up the FPS until things settle down. Also FNV unlike FO3 lacks a good Havok simulator built into the FNV geck so you can't really set up a whole lot of ammo boxes anyway. You can set up a few here an there, stacks you can't really do. But they didn't work well anyway.

I suggest rather than stacks to put most of it inside an actual container. Which you could create a new container mesh that looks like a bunch of stacks of ammo boxes but actually it's just a stupid container that has a lot of ammo added to it. The best of both worlds. You get the looks of the ammo box stacks, but with the performance of a single static item. The trick would be making them imperfect, a box missing here another missing there an a few that tumpped over. Then toss in some actual clutter ones just a few an bam.

Nah I got good lighting they don't overlap and it is low lit

The clutter limit thing applies to stuff inside other stuff? like ammo in ammo boxes? If so that would definitly explain my problem.

I'm not sure exactly how that is the best of both worlds if your trying to keep ammo organized. Woudn't it be the same as if all ammo was storred in like one container?

Well I couldn't tell what you meant.

If you have a problem from putting ammo inside containers then it's something else.

could be a problem with the mod itself like it being dirty, from the clicks an clacks of creating it.

You know you should be able to put however many things into a container.

It's pretty normal for me to put 5000 of each type ammo into a cell as a test container which has no effect on the game's performance.

You're load order is incorrect, FalloutNV.esm should be first.

Animated Prostitution ain't nothing to hide. It's as common as FOMM. That girl has been around the block.

You could have some sort of item sorter issue. I kind of think those are stupid, because the vanilla game will already sort somewhat. In each container you get < an > at the top to fumble through the different types of things. Weapons, clothing, aid, ammo, an so on. So sorters are kind of dumb like that so I don't use them as a way to avoid complex issues.

Start a new game, then put a bunch of ammo in the thing an see what it does...

Sorry If I wasn't clear enough. Basically the cell works perfectly untill I put a lot of ammo in my ammo boxes which is organized and put neatly on shelfs so their not stacked

.

Yea I considerd that too so I made a "dummy cell" using different ammo boxes still the problem persists when i put tons of ammo in the ammo boxes.

HA HA. Didn't realize it was THAT popular. Thats great.

Yeah that would have been the case put I found this guys script that you push a makeshift button and it automatically removes the ammo in your inventory and stores it in the pre-designated boxes. Its awesome so I really want it to work.

Is it just me or is it hard to do multi-quotes on this site? It took me like 4 min to do this post.

Did you try starting a new game?

Uh I don't use quotes.

I mean if I take something from another post an post it on some other post then I'll quote maybe. The whole Quote thing is Ghay, it's like hey I'm throwing this up in your face even though it's right above an if you really wanted to see it you could just scroll. I reckon it's the little bubble button on the toolbar in the full editor.

Well Sorters can't be that awesome if you can't put more than 10 ammo in a container. That's silly anyway. You press the left arrow an it displays only ammo. You play enough you get your rates that you wana carry. About the time the inventory gets full from loot. 150 to 230 (buffed) weight I go to whatever house I'm currently squatin in. Where i have the 4-5 seperate containers that I use to dump loot.

Keep it simple as possible man. I don't use simple mods, but if anything is overly complex I avoid it like the plague that it is. This is just because I'm lazy an don't want to work on the game I want to play it. I don't want issues or crashing either. So I do whatever I got to do to avoid that stuff. Don't listen to meh though go out there an ask around.

Yeah I'm dropping the mutli-quote thing at least for now, since you seem to be the only one willing to take the time to help right now.

Nice philosophy about mods. Can't say I completely agree. Too me if the mod is good enough than a little hassle is not a big deal.

I tried starting a new game with only one mod. no go.

I appreciate the help. I think I'm going to give this up soon. Its starting to become a bigger hassle than I'm willing to put up.

I ran into someone an they told me to keep it simple.

I tried it an it works.

This last build I pretty much ignored any mod that I didn't understand how to install quickly.

I also avoided anything that was stupid or not absolutely needed.

I also avoided the large mods that change a whole lot of different things. Overhawls.

I decided to leave the way the FNV world looks, no nevada skies or fellout. (which are both kind of ghay)

This left me with 30 to 40 mods that I found in the top 25 most endorsedafied, which I also looked in most endorsedafied top 100 of all time.

Then maybe a few hand picked mods I used before. FME (WMK) the mod that expands the weapons mods got ditched even though it looked good.

This was because it directly conflicts with Book of Earache. I reckon if you wanted weapons get one or the other, but not both.

I also ditched anything questionable while installing.

12-16 hours later I had fixed conflicts with FNV edit.

I still have to get Dead Money working, which is tough.

So no game play right yet. Sucks. Next time I'm just using the few

that I can't play without. Then just create new mods as I run into things.
