llloyd
Ok, where to begin. I am looking to make a personal mod, something I would use and, if I ever felt it was polished enough (doubtful, I am not *that* good of a modder. >.< ) talk to those who's resources I borrowed to make it for permission to release it. Now, a bit about it, it's going to be a new race for a companion. I was tossing around the idea that I do like Khajiit and wanted to have them in the Fallout universe. We know the US government did a lot of gruesome experiments to make the perfect super soldier. The most notable is the FEV but there were other experiments done as well, like Vault 92 and their "Let's see if subsonic sounds can trigger aggression" experiment, etc. So it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that they also did gene recombination, we see that at Big Mountain in the X8 Testing Facility where not only do they combine a robot with a dog to make Roxie but there were other variants. So a tiger and human gene recombination would make something that looks like a Khajiit. There is my companion, one who's entire hidden village is all recombs who over threw the scientists who created them (made them too perfect, the Agent 47 curse) and settled hidden from the world. Except her who slipped out to explore the world. Now, hopefully a lot of "Why?" has been answered so onto the problem in question. I was thinking of borrowing a mesh and skin from Skyrim mods, they have the best looking Khajiit. And they are .dds and .nif files like in the Gambryo engine. But when I go to use the skin in the NV GECK it comes out as pure black yet in Skyrim the skin has a distinct tiger pattern. I am betting dollars to donuts I probably won't understand the reasons why, I am not much of a modder and I couldn't draw to save my life (hence the need to borrow other working resources) but do I need to convert these files in some way shape or form? Or must I use Oblivion resources ? I own Oblivion so that wouldn't be difficult but not as ideal as using Skyrim's better looking Khajiit as a base for the new race. Any help would be appreciated. :D
Fallout2AM
The mesh must be converted, yes. When you port a body mesh from a game to another and the skeleton is different, that body mesh must be rigged properly on its new skeleton. It's pretty much a pain if you never did something like this, I don't know if there's some detailed guide around the net.
