Abramul
Since the last time I played a significant amount of Oblivion, I have defragmented my hard drive and updated my video an sound card drivers. I've noticed a huge drop in load times, and I'm wondering if this is attributable to the defragmentation alone. Anyone know whether this is the case? (Note: Although I'd been playing through Half-Loaded 2 before switching back, I am quite sure that there has been a decrease in Oblivion's load times)(Note 2: I seem to recall that either the .BSAs, or the Oblivion folder itself, were among the most fragmented items)
Guest Tessera
Yes it's extremely important, for game such as this one. Oblivion's biggest source of lag and glitches all seem to be centered around loading times and texture swapping. Keeping your hard drives in optimal condition will go a very long way towards minimizing those issues. The faster your drives, the less video stuttering you'll get, for one thing. Just try to minimize as many bottlenecks in your computer as you can. Defragging is a must and I defrag my drives every other day, on average.
