GrindedStone
Clean the mods, pick good mods, pick no mods, master update, admire my new sig. P.S. You know autosave, quicksave, an continue are prone to coruption. So is leaving your computer on all the time. So is playing fallout for more than 3 hours without a soft reboot or a full reboot of the system every 4-8 hours. boota
P.S. You know autosave, quicksave, an continue are prone to coruption. So is leaving your computer on all the time. So is playing fallout for more than 3 hours without a soft reboot or a full reboot of the system every 4-8 hours.lol, I didn't mean 20 hours in a one run, but 20 hours of gameplay since starting a new game. Now that I have 50+ hours of gameplay I'm rebooting my PC every hour, two, when playing New Vegas, as there's like 50/50 chance Windows Manager won't be able to close game on crash. Otherwise reboot. I've already reinstalled game, turned off autosaves (3/4 chance of crash when quick travel) and I'm using only most simple mods that shouldn't screw anything. Guess I'm just lucky  . For now, I'm just saving game before entering every location or using quick travel, as there's 1/5 chance of freeze or crash. Maybe I'll just wait for another patch.Obsidian could really allow us to download and manually install optional quickfix that would reverse those unexplained "optimizations and stability improvements" introduced with 1.
GrindedStone
Oh it's just a mod, yeah... The GECK randomly will create dirty wack stuff. You can click on one thing an something not even near what you were working on will be saved in the mod. So yah, then there's problems with mods not being compatible with the 1.3, heck GECK wouldn't even work when 1.3 came out, now GECK is 1.3 an all those old mods are not good anymore... So maybe it could be related to that. You can try .NET framework an Visual C++ un-install them if you go em then install them again, 64 bit systems you install both versions of Visual C++ I believe, but you should really visit Steam support FAQ.If you can't play FO3 or FNV for 6 hours without a crash then there is something wrong, something that is up to you to fix. boota
I always use FNVEdit to detect mod clashes and junk entries.F3 works fine, F:NV did untill 1.3.I'll reinstall .NET framework an Visual C++, we'll se.
GrindedStone
I could write 12 pages of stuff you could do to get rid of crashes by memory. That is the shortest amount of words possible. 12 pages. That's why I don't write that anymore. Edited May 28, 2011 by GrindedStone
r4r3
This game has been a real piece of cr4p from the start. I crashed more with every patch of the game for me. I have already completely reinstalled FNV, have no MODs, updated drivers, DirectX, deleted various files, validated files and whatnot. Man. Worse than doing your taxes...It still crashes to desktop when loading ANY game or even starting a new one... It started happening after the previous update, but I do also have other sh1t to do, so I figured, I'd just let the game "ripen" on my disk and wait till the next patch. Fast-forward some weeks later it still does the same crap...I'm ready to try an animal sacrifice. Any ideas? ;) Oh yeah. And nice warm greetings to the developers if they read this. I hope you at least feel ashamed for this abomination. It is truely the buggiest game I've had, and I've had and played through quite a few (including ALL Fallouts). GrindedStone
I ran into a Nexus article on Win7 Fallout becomes abandonware on Win7
SamLoomis
I have given up, I've tried everything except re-installing... I'll just wait for the new "patch", but I don't have high hopes for that one. Will probably mess the game up more haha!! If the patch doesn't work I'll buy a GOTY edition from a bargain bin for my PS3 in the far future. There's a bunch of other great games out there too you know...
GrindedStone
Ditch the pre-order start a new game. If it happends again, ditch the DLC's, start a new game. If it happends again, ditch your mods, start a new game. Install mods one at a time because you can't tell what is new or old or what is going to break the game. Test it between each mod. The performance is better in 1.3 so focus on that for now...
