BFORD2K8
Ok, so I downloaded New Vegas and the GECK yesterday and I made myself a gun in the GECK. I then saved it in the DATA folder like you're supposed to and I loaded up New Vegas and went to Data Files to find it. Problem is, it's not there and whenever I go to the DATA folder, I don't see the file at all. It's like it never officially saved and a message never popped up to tell me this. I saved it as a .esp file and everything. Any tips on how to fix this? EDIT- Also, when I try to search for the file, it shows up but when I click on it, it says that it couldn't be found. BFORD2K8
UAC vista/windows 7 problem? Might be. Just some more information, when I look at the file, it has a lock icon over the file icon if that helps any. Think that could be the problem? davidlallen
Please search "user access controls" in the faq and forum. Many people don't know about this feature of vista/windows 7. It prevents "normal" users from writing files under "c:\program files". Once you understand UAC and use it correctly, this problem will stop happening. captainjackass
Just had this problem myself. In my case this was avoided by running GECK as administrator. Right click, go to properties, under security change it to always run as administrator.
invaderjon
Run as administrator!!!
VegasKing8198
Since the program is ran off of the Program Files Folder you have to allow GECK to run it as administrator, it can open files perfectly but it cant save or put files in the folder with out giving it the administrator privilege.
